Valero was just a bad ass, sure he doesn't have a text book style, but you can't deny the results.

he's much better at defending against "Rib Roasters" and "Pivoting" now than he was at the time of Smegman's remarks:cheer:

That's my pick. If we're including Commonwealth and British champions, "Fainting" Phil Scott comes to mind.

There have been worse titlists than Valuev- Primo Carnera, for one, Hugo Corro, for another, not to mention other crap like Terrible Terry McGovern.

Hugo Corro was a solid middleweight contender who happened to luck in to a faded Rodrigo Valdes, but he was certainly not a bad fighter by any means

    Valuev was a hideous fighter

Valuev did what has always been done in Heavyweight boxing- parlay size and strength and husband it to his minimal talent to gut out results. The guy displayed tremendous conditioning for such a massive lump. He also has displayed a pretty decent chin so far. He dropped thin decisions to Chagaev and Haye.

Is he hideous? Sure. But he earned his stripe legitimately, which is more than can be said for Santana.

It still doesnt change the fact that saying Hugo Corro was anywhere near as bad a fighter as Valuev is ridiculous

Corro also gave a young Vito Antuofermo all he could handle.

    Corro was a good fighter.

He beat two guys that most everyone thougt he would lose to in Rodrigo Valdez and Ronnie Harris, and when he was on top; Ring magazine called him a good champion and did many features on him.

Now, the magazine is different with different staff and writers in today's times, but you need to ask yourself who exactly says this stuff and who Ring magazine is.

I think that Gil Clancy picked Corro for Valdez because he had an Argentinian connection from Monzon and Galindez and he knew Rocky was shot from all of those hard battles (Monzon, Briscoe, Tonna and others) and he knew Corro could not punch hard; and he knew it was certain defeat to match him with Marvin Hagler, who should have gotten his shot a couple of years before the first Antuofermo fight.

Corro could fight a bit, but I never liked him as I thought he was in the right place at the right time; but I don't think he was the worst middleweight champion ever, even though when he was champ both Hagler and Minter would have stopped him.

I would bet all the livers in Ireland that you have never seen a single Hugo Corro bout, yet here you are, once again creating an excuse to prop up some shit 2000s heavyweight

Yeah, but Maussa is still worse then Valuev. I don't care what anybody thinks about Vivian Harris (who would probably contend for a "most inconsistent boxer in history" award).

Harris lost because he got tired bouncing punches off Maussa's retarded skull.

Usually you're smarter than this. Antuofermo rumbled with Hagler less than a year later and escaped with a draw. You don't do that if you're a crappy fighter.

    "escaped with a draw"

You are forgetting Buddy, that Hagler was, oh but of course, 1. Black. 2. Good. 3. A Southpaw.

He was never going to get the nod over old club-foot, remember???

Hagler was a killer at that point. I'm not forgetting anything. :scared:He lifted Antuofermo right up in the air with an uppercut and Antuofermo just kept going.:bears:

again, I am not a writer for or endorser of RING magazine, so quit being cute and defend your point

Antuofermo was a good, tough middleweight who competed against other good, tough middleweights

every boxing opinion you have is a mere reaction to some mythical media bogeyman... you should try making objective observations, instead of just playing the contrarian, throwing verbal punches at the shadows
