Hatton had no fear of Floyd whatsoever. He just got caught and laid out, like Roy did against Tarver. Hatton wasn't in over his head against Floyd, he willingly took the fight to him. A scared man fights defensively, not offensively. Hatton tried to mow the fool down.
He was in over his head. You knew it, I knew it, and so did Hatton. Anyways Hatton can only fight one way. He's not skilled enough to fight defensively. If he could have he would have. I'll Holla 5000
He really was. However so many people mistake his aggressive, brawling approach as effective. It wasn't. Even with that tactic he couldn't land anything clean. Hatton was so 'in over his head' that Mayweather destroyed him at his own game.
Correct. Like I said before...Floyd is tougher, stronger and more powerful than people give him credit for.
So, you now think that Cotto would beat Hatton? You seemed pretty certain of the opposite in the months before the night. Since you asked the question, I'm curious how many fighters has Miguel Cotto ever called out in his career? I'm not sure I know the answer, but you sound more familiar with his "calling out" practices than I am. As for Williams, his size and activity would pose a stylistic problem for just about any welterweight. He may not have the resume yet (debatable) or the marketability (not really debatable) to command a mega-event...which is why so many people would like to see him fight Cintron. The winner of that fight (in which I would favor "The Punisher") would be standing on a significantly higher platform.
Cotto would've done the same thing to Hatton tonight...Cotto would've taken alot more punishment than Mayweather....because of styles/skills but Cotto would've ko Hatton the same...well not the same..Hatton wouldn't hit the turnbuckle..but close..
:: Cotto has never called anyone out..we all know that..we all complain and bitch about it...but he does fight top opponents...last guy he fought and beat was a pretty good fighter..name Shane Mosley.. Money Manyweather needs to be excited to fight? who the fuck is he? OScar De La Hoya..? ::
dsimon writes: Did I say hatton beats Cotto? :dunno: I don't remember it if I did. Cotto and his team have yet to make an overture to fight Floyd do you disagree with that statement? :eeeek:. You overestimate williams, give me a break.... every freak of nature should have a crack at the champ? Abe Simon fighting Louis all aver again sheeeesh! Williams beat an amateur baby!! :: ::
I'm not sure you ever said he beats Cotto, but you came pretty close to it as I recall...and I consistently stated I thought Cotto was better than Hatton and would beat him at 147 and you seemed to take issue with both statements (this was at least a couple months ago). Cotto hasn't. But I'm waiting for you to show how that is somehow out of character for him. It's interesting that you degrade Margarito, who Williams won his title from, yet Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. isn't rumored to be fighting Margarito early next year...he's fighting Baldomir instead. I'm sure it's because the Argentinian is considered far greater test at this point in his career than the "amateur". Arum wants to save Margarito so he can possibly feed him to Cotto...because he needs a soft-touch like he should get against the amateur.
So you like your boxers to be attractive men then? Fag? Have you seen the Mayweather family from a side profile? All of their mouths go out about six inches past their noses. They haven't fully evolved yet. :dunno:
There is no need for any of this to get personal. There has been enough happened over the last months to keep us all occupied inside the lines.
For all of Billy Graham's talk of Floyd "missing the point" when talking trash and acting flashy, it was Hatton who entirely missed the point leading up to this fight and got personal. Hatton got what he asked for. Floyd is a better in fighter and a tougher guy. Fuck all the Brits who booed the American anthem too.
The booing was unacceptable, but if it was 10,000 of your finest Shit Kickers you would be making an argument for a change in American foreign policy. So, with that in mind....... Floyd is a better fighter, period. Floyd isn't any tougher than hatton. Just smarter. I doubt Floyd could take his own punishment either. Maybe Oscar Larios and Morales are tougher than McCullough.
I'm not American. Floyd just stays so calm, so that makes him tougher to hurt. Hatton is easier to hurt than Floyd Mayweather when both are hit flush. That's my point. That fight was so satisfying.
Also, yeah, there's only one Ricky Hatton. It must have felt like there were at least three Floyd Mayweather's in there last night.
I remember you being pretty certain (if not emphatic, at times) that Hatton was a stiffer test for Mayweather than Cotto would be, but when I asked you if you considered him better at 147 than Cotto...I seem to remember you answering in the affirmative. (I think you also believed Baldomir was better than Margarito...I assume you still believe that, though perhaps someone should check to see if Luciano Perez wore sequines or not.) I never remember you saying Cotto beats Hatton...but then I'm talking probably several months ago (maybe July or August)...maybe your opinion changed since then. Thread hunt if you like, it won't make a difference to me. It's your time, not mine. From your comments it does sound like you're saying Cotto and Mosley are first tier guys. We agree on that much. Mayweather should fight first tier welterweights...I don't recall him doing that yet.
It was just rude and classless just like when B-Hop threw down the PR flag. I mean there the right way and the way to approach certain sitations and that was the wrong way especially considering we are at war. But PBF took it out on Hatton and bounced his ass off the ring post. I'll Holla 5000
Yes, it was that and more. It was like that scene in Rocky IV where the Russian officer gets beat up and they are all jeering the Soviet Army in Hollywood. But at least Maskaev took it out on Rahman and bounced his ass of Larry Merchants desk. I'll Holla.
