    MAYWEATHER-HATTON OFFICIAL
They are two of boxing’s best, two of the most exciting fighters in the sport today, and both are undefeated. They stand atop their weight divisions and fight fans are in for a thrill as pound-for-pound king of the ring and welterweight champion “Pretty Boy†Floyd Mayweather will meet British icon and junior welterweight champion Ricky “The Hitman†Hatton on Saturday, December 8 for the 147-pound championship. With a combined record of 81-0, this is the biggest match-up of two undefeated welterweights since the record setting mega-fight between Oscar de la Hoya and Felix Trinidad in 1999.

The fight, officially announced today and aptly named “UNDEFEATEDâ€, will be promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Mayweather Promotions and produced by and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View. With several sites interested in hosting this special event, a location will be announced shortly.

“I am extremely excited to announce Golden Boy’s involvement in another boxing extravaganza such as Mayweather vs. Hatton,†said Oscar de la Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. “We are proud to continue to provide fans with the best match-ups and fights in boxing today. This will be an exciting way to end this record-breaking year for the sport.â€

“We are very happy that the first fight for Mayweather Promotions will be an event of this magnitude,†said Leonard Ellerbe of Mayweather Promotions. “To be in partnership with Golden Boy Promotions working on another big event is a great way to show we are serious in bringing great fights to the fans.â€

"Mayweather-Hatton is a world-class showdown between two undefeated superstars in their prime," said Mark Taffet of HBO Pay-Per-View. "It's the biggest welterweight fight since De La Hoya-Trinidad, and figures to be a memorable night for boxing fans."

Mayweather, 30, is 38-0 (24 KOs) and the reigning world welterweight champion. He is a six-time world champion in five weight divisions including super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight. Coming off of his decision victory against Oscar de la Hoya—the largest grossing event in the history of boxing—Mayweather is one of the most gifted fighters to ever step between the ropes.

“I am the best fighter in boxing today and I’m prepared for any challenge my team puts in front of me,†said Mayweather. “And with Ricky Hatton it’s already personal. He has talked and disrespected me so much in the past months that I can’t wait to get him in the ring and show him he is not even on my level. He’s definitely getting knocked out.â€

Hatton, 28, is 43-0 (31 KOs), and hails from Manchester, England. He is also a multi-division champion and universally recognized world junior welterweight champion. He has fought once before at 147 pounds, winning the welterweight belt from Luis Collazo in May of 2006 before moving back down to 140 pounds and capturing his third world title. His most recent contest was a four-round destruction of Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas in June.

“It is a dream of every boxer to fight the best boxers in the world,†said Hatton. “"I respect Floyd Mayweather immensely for his boxing ability and it will be an honor to share the same ring with him. He is rightly regarded as the best pound for pound boxer in the world. However, I am confident and determined that I will be the first boxer to beat him in the ring and I am looking forward to this fight."

A global press tour is being planned to promote this event. In addition, on-sale ticket information for this championship title fight will be announced in the near future.

Yeah, I know you're too cool to be a fan of a fighter  or anyone for that matter but going by your posting history, you have a thing for the brat, so for me, that's enough to lump you with the nuthuggers, the time of a fight.

I've only seen Hatton dropped once and it was against Magee but Hatton was hurt against Collazo, it almost looked like Collazo had him at one point.

I'm tired of watching his pot shot style. I want to see fraud dig deep like in the first Castillo fight. I want to see him war! Fuck this defensive wizard pot shotting style.

Ignoring knowledge and indulging in echolocation.
I like Fraud by disqualification, Hatton will close the gap pretty quick, but he won't be able to deal with that back twisting head below belt level shit that Fraud pulls during critical moments where he's trapped, and I think the red troll will figure, hey, the referee aint pullin' any of this shit up, it's time to crack that spine as hard as I possibly can, and he'll be waved away accordingly, while Fraud rolls around on the ground squealing like a bitch who's finally had his comeuppance for that long-time ILLEGAL technique...

Pacquiao's dominant victory over Barrera trumps a prospective victory for Mayweather over Hatton, IMO.

Yep. I like hatton but Barrera is a greater and overall more accomplished fighter, and I am not even a MAB fan.

If Floyd absolutely trounces Hatton like Manny did to MAB, then it'll be close, but that's highly unlikely to happen.

    War Hatton!

    Who are you picking Tam?

I think Mayweather wins and wins comfortably. Most probably 9-3 or 10-2. Not a fan of either fighter though, but the sport needs fights like this to move forward again. In that respect, you have to like what Floyd has done this year. He's making the big fights, even though he really has very little mass appeal. It's his fights which are drawing the attention; not the man. Thats a good thing.

    How so?

Barrera had already been stopped (although they called it a DQ).

Hatton is undefeated and stopped Kostya Tszyu among others.

Its simple. Barrera is a greater fighter and was a unanimous top 3 P4P fighter at the time.

Hatton might be undefeated, but his resume has holes in it. The win (if he gets it) may go on to be more important, if Hatton can make a better career for himself. But as of right now, there is no argument to the contrary; Barrera is greater than Hatton and the manor in which Pacquiao slaughtered Barrera deserves the recognition, IMO.

Fair enough, but we'll have to respectfully disagree on that one.

You've made a very good case, but to me Barrera had been stopped before...and by a guy that wasn't all that great and THAT taints Pacquaio's victory just a tad.

It's in the works for me, it depends on if a friend of mine can make it or not. I'm surprised at all the super confident Floyd picks, Hatton's pressure & workrate could cause Floyd alot of problems in this fight.

Sly you're placing too much importance on an undefeated record.

A loss is a loss, and used to be an accepted part of boxing.

Freitas was undefeated against Corrales, and look what a chump Freitas turned out to be, with his glossy KO filled record.

I am not comparing Hatton to Freitas, Hatton is a far better and far more accomplished fighter.

But even Duran and Robinson lost in their primes, and they are often ranked as the best ever, P4P.

Your argument is bizarre Sly, you're saying Hatton is a better fighter and a potential better win than barerra simply because Barrera had lost before Pacman destroyed him? :dunno:
