I agree, the situation has changed. Pacquiao has bigger fights right now, and frankly, a Marquez fight will be viable longer. My guess is Pacquiao won't fight Marquez again until he (Pacquiao) loses, but we'll see what happens after the next round of fights.
why would he fight someone he should hold two wins over? Without a scoring error, this is what the reality would be. I can't believe Marquez groupies are still hung up on this at all to be honest. Pacquiao should never think about anything to do with Marquez ever again. He got his two wins, and in his book moved on, regardless of what some peasants who can't score fights think.
:: That's what I'm saying, technically, Pac should be 2-0 against Marquez if it were not for a scoring error. Marquez should stick to beating up washed up guys like Casamayor. I've even heard Marquez's next fight is supposed to be a comebacking Morales. :atu:
That's completely ignorant, but then just look at the source. It was clear as day that Marquez was damn robbed Here are the punch stats for the first fight: <table id="AutoNumber2" style="border-collapse: collapse;" width="82%" border="2" bordercolor="#111111" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" height="116"><tbody><tr><td rowspan="2" width="15%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="38">Marquez</td> <td width="8%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="18"> 158 / 547</td> <td width="6%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="18"> 36 / 208</td> <td width="9%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="18"> 122 / 339</td> </tr> <tr> <td width="8%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="16"> 29%</td> <td width="6%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="16"> 17%</td> <td width="9%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="16"> 36%</td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="2" width="15%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="38"> Pacquiao</td> <td width="8%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 148 / 639</td> <td width="6%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 48 / 408</td> <td width="9%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 100 / 231</td> </tr> <tr> <td width="8%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 23%</td> <td width="6%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 12%</td> <td width="9%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 43%</td></tr></tbody></table> Here are the punch stats for the second fight: <table id="AutoNumber2" style="border-collapse: collapse;" width="82%" border="2" bordercolor="#111111" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" height="116"><tbody><tr><td rowspan="2" width="15%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="38">Marquez</td> <td width="8%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="18"> 172 / 511</td> <td width="6%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="18"> 42 / 201</td> <td width="9%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="18"> 130 / 310</td> </tr> <tr> <td width="8%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="16"> 34%</td> <td width="6%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="16"> 21%</td> <td width="9%" align="center" bgcolor="#0000ff" height="16"> 42%</td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="2" width="15%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="38"> Pacquiao</td> <td width="8%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 157 / 619</td> <td width="6%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 43 / 314</td> <td width="9%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 114 / 305</td> </tr> <tr> <td width="8%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 25%</td> <td width="6%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 14%</td> <td width="9%" align="center" bgcolor="#ff0000" height="19"> 37%</td></tr></tbody></table> He schooled the one trick pony even worse in the rematch. Maybe it's all of those pimples in your face that are blocking the screen or something, but to think Pacquiao won the rematch is just plain dumb. Cupey
So he lands more jabs (Pacquiao actually landed more power punches) but is put on the floor 3 times, and that equals a "schooling"? That's the worst rational I've heard yet for a Marquez win in the first fight.
Dude, if you get dropped 3 times in the first round. How many rounds would you have to win to get back into the fight? Marquez got out of the early rounds and put on a clinic. Pacquiao is tough, Marquez is simply the better fighter. It's too bad Pacquiao has the judges in the palm of his hands. Cupey
Wait, so you completely ignored that Pacquiao landed more power punches??? :dunno: Marquez is a good fighter, but 114-111 is the closest the first fight could've been judged by any impartial observer. Marquez lost cleanly and was lucky Clements doesn't know how to score a fight.
Marquez landed more power punches. Pacquiao scored at a higher rate. Just goes to show how amazing Marquez was in the first match and how he dominated the rest of the show. Cupey
in fairness, his card was almost as bad as Stewart's. The irony of that fight is, the one judge who admittedly fucked up on his scorecard was the closest of the three. I honestly thought both fights were 1 pt either way. I had Marquez winning 113-112 (1st fight) and 114-113 (re:) but could just as easily see Pac winning by the same margin.
translation. You are right cupey, I didn't realize Marquez landed more power punches than Pacquiao or that he landed more punches than Pacquiao in both fights He owned the One Trick Pony. Cupey
I thought Marquez lost the first fight by a point, but the rematch Marquez made his case clear. He didn't completely dominate the fight, but it was convincing. Cupey
punchstats is the reason :: punchstats is idiots pressing buttons if they think a punch is landed. I'd love to go round by round with people who gave marquez 2-12 in the first fight or 7+ rounds in the second. I mean really, what the fuck are you guys watching. Oh and purely for semantics of how stupid a punchstats argument is. Showing overall stats, means nothing. Say fighter A lands 15+ more punches in 8 of the rounds, and fighter B lands 35+ more in the other 4 rounds. By the numbers, they'd be about equal with fighter B landing more, but that doesn't mean fighter B won.
Right, so instead we should choose to believe what three blind idiots sitting ringside think. Or even better, some freckle face punk who's never stepped into the ring believes. Please. tons of reputable people on this board and around the globe scored it for Marquez. Punch Stats are simply being used here to help support that. Cupey
I think Jaws just called you out Cupey, but you'll have to actually watch boxing for this to happen. :: How about the two of you watch the fight tonight and do a little round by round write up explaining why you gave each round to who. Post them tomorrow. Deal?
I'd take the stepping into the ring argument from 3OG or Gato, but not from someone whose not only never played a sport in his life, but thinks Marquez DOMINATED the rematch. People who think Marquez dominated, are absolutely retarded. There is 0 acumen involved calling a 7-5, 6-6 fight dominating. It just isn't an accurate use of the word. If you think Marquez won, I disagree vehemently, if you think Marquez dominated, you just don't understand english, or boxing, whichever suits you.
I only listen to people that actually weigh more than a strawweight. Secondly, I've stepped into the ring on several occasions (to help clean up after a fight) so I certainly can talk. I also have awards in baseball. The closest you've come to any sport is owning baseball cards and one boxing glove. Regarding the fights, I still can't find a way to give the second fight to Pacquiao. No fucking way in hell. Marquez was awesome and clearly outpointed Pacquiao for at least 8 rounds. So, maybe when you get a TV that's bigger than 5" you'll get a better view of the fights. Until then you should simply keep quiet because all you do is embarrass yourself the second you type. cupey
Watch boxing, are you crazy? I didn't even see this entire fight. I'm simply amazing and can analyze any fight without actually watching it. So bow down!:kick: Cupey
