I took Bowling very seriously during college and even still I don't give a sh*t about watching it. :: Face it GF. BJJ is a very effective art but it just isn't going to come across as entertaining on screen. And let's be realistic, it's not like Boxing itself is all that fun either. Many boxers are boring as f*ck to watch with their defensive chess playing crap, much like certain guys in MMA. Not everybody will be entertaining. Many guys here have boxed but still, nobody wants to see John Ruiz or Chris Byrd fight regardless of how much they love boxing or not. LOL! All the same reason I don't want to see BJJ specialist Jake O' Brian fight, even if I was a 155th Dan in BJJ. LOL!!!! A lot of these UFC guys are clueless, they're not all specialists. They're applying methods which will minimize the risk they have to take in order to win a fight. Usually it's called "lay and pray", a popular term amongst MMA circles. It's not as impressive as you're making it to be.
I'm tired of trying to figure out what the fuck Hanzy's deal is with MMA. Do you like it or not Hanzy Panzy!
I like boxing. But I dislike many of the boxers out there who I find boring and not worth my hard earned money. Same with MMA. I like MMA but I don't enjoy watching everybody who competes in the cage or ring. I will say though that possibly one of the best MMA events I ever watched was Pride HomeComing II. The only problem with Pride was, they spent FAR TOO LONG in making their debut in America. They should've debuted long before the UFC boom in 2005 stemming from the success of TUF 1. But I'm not some MMA sucker who's going to go around buying every single MMA event that comes on tv.
Three minutes of boxing is pretty fucking tiring. :: I wouldn't wrestle because I'm straight, but I'm sure it's tiring as hell too.
Personally I think it varies with the type of opponent you're fighting. If the guy isn't attacking/struggling that much in either boxing or ground fighting then I don't think you would get that tired. So before you two even start engaging in this argument let's just get that out of the way first.
Anytime you have someone on top of you, and you have to carry their weight on you. IF they are on top holding you down and you are tying to get into a better, more offensive position, its much tiring than boxing. I dont even think its a debate. Wrestling on the ground for 5 minutes is more tiring than multiple rounds of boxing.
In boxing you dont have someone's weight on you the whole time either. In wrestling, thier weight is constantly against yours.
I wouldn't argue because I have never wrestled. I simply don't know. All I can say is boxing looks tough.... and I find it WAY more demanding than it looks. Shit is unbelievably tiring.
Since i have done both, i will tell you that boxing is tough. But Wrestling is much harder and tiring. You have someone's weight on you the whole time.
Yes, since I've done both, and boxed amateur, I can tell you that boxing is far more tiring. Unless you have a really weak, frail body, wrestling really isn't that tiring. I've wrestled a much bigger guy too, around 16 stone, and it wasn't tiring at all, I could have done it for fucking ages, and I'm not exaggerating.
I hate MMA and I disagree, but it is not the most ridiculous thing. I think wrestling is the most tiring thing ever. I can punch for all day long. Kicking Thai kicks is morre tiring than boxing.
Yes, I am agreeing with you and disagreeing with Mex. It is not the most ridiculous thing I have read in factr your stating it was is the most ridiculous thing::::I think Bjj, wrestling especially wrestling is far more tiring than just using your hands.
I just know that i have to stay active in my BJJ because if i take a week or two off, when i come back, just minutes of rolling, kills me. The warm up alone is hard.
Why don't you ever talk about your fighting on here man? I know you are humble and don't like to draw attention to yourself, but you have a lot to share.
Well if you don't know fill us the fuck in. And let me add, wouldn't it all depend on the person and how he's reacting to the situation? When you're fighting your adrenaline is pumping up and if you don't control it and kind of get to a relaxed mindstate you'll get tired faster, so I think a lot of different variables come into play where you can't just say one sport is more tiring than the other. On the other hand I've never sparred in either so I'm more asking than stating facts.
There really isnt different ways to react to Grappling. Both persons are trying to get an advantage on the other. There is no running to avoid contact or dancing around and landing your select punches. You are constantly in contact 100% of the time the fight is going on. Now add to the fact that their weight is on you if you are on the bottom and if you are on top, you are constantly trying to get around their defenses to reach a position where you can either pin, submit or knock them out.
Not really bro. Have you done both? I've done a little of both and boxing is way tougher mentally and that affects you physically unless you are Ruiz Jr. and constantly holding. I think the mental stress adds a lot to it.
The question is have you done both? Why would boxing be more stressful? Lets say you are in a MMA fight and its on the ground. The amount of things you have to worry about is ridiculous. Elbows, hundreds of different submissions, avoiding advances, knees, punches, holds, etc. If you are boxing, and want to take a round off, just back up and dance around the ring, cover up, do a little running. If you are in a BJJ fight and you want to take a round off, you cant. I cant believe i am having this debate. We all love boxing, but lets stop being ridiculous. Why do you guys think Boxers get more tired when one of them is just holding them and laying on them the whole time? wrestling, when someone's bodyweight is all over you, is much harder than throwing punches.
"Z" I've never known you to have such a potty mouth. You most be pissed at me. LOL! What I was saying is that was like four years ago, and in the state of CA. Even in Boxing some states bend the rules; New Mexico doesn't blood test, WV let Tommy Gun fight there. Many of my MMA friends tell me drug sanctions aren't up to par in the sport nation wide. That's all I was saying but just like the Mitchell Report you can't get them all.:nono:
We are all a little high strung around here. We need something good boxing. When are you going to get your ass back in the ring so we can see an exciting fight?
If thats the case why isn't the game plan to stay on your feet and make the fight easy?! Also one of the reasons why the UFC elected for Ref to stand the guys back up. I know....because it's easier to mount each other; defensive roll and waist 5 min. Look at Griffin/Jackson!:fightme:
