goodfellas always deserves a mention, just for the special, special pacing, direction, and characterisation, that makes it about as addictive and as rewatchable as any other well-known movie out there.

Without reading through this entire thread, my list is the best and your list sucks big giant monkey balls. It's pretentious, full of shit and too full of obscure indy/blockbuster mainstream movies.

    Carry on.

It is my own list. The thing is that when I tried to write it here it didn't let me (error messages) so I wrote it on Microsoft Office Word, copy & paste it and voila! Went through with no error message. And yes, I have watched all these films more than once. Ben Hur is just great, I have watched it like 10 times. The story is compelling and Charlton Heston is at his best here. You can watch this film with your friends and have them try to have a little competition of 'burping' after eating just to express how satisfied you were with the food (that scene with the Sheik is a riot!). Citizen Kane is great too, looks dated now, but taking in consideration at the time it was made you can call it a milestone. It feels like a 70's movie done in 1941,I mean that level of cynicism in the main character who is fascinating, but a total asshole but at the end you find out why he was like that, the cinematography, camera angles, editing...Orson Welles was a genius. Too bad he peaked so early because none of his later films were as great as this one.
