    So it looks like the way they are getting around cruise flying a fighter jet is that he is using some kind of new Version not currently released. Obviously it’s not true but because he can’t fly a real fighter jet they had to make something that looks like one. These jets don’t look like real jets but some kind of upgraded version. Interesting.

    Because cruise wanted to fly real jets in the movie, but he is not allowed to fly real fighter jets, they made these jets. I don’t believe you can make exact replicas so they changed the style to make them look more advanced. So he is basically flying a regular jet modified to look like an advanced fighter jet that doesn’t exist. That’s how they got around it to make it look realistic

    They are current generation USN FA18E Super Hornets, pretty advanced. Although a lot of it is CGI, much of it is real footage.

    Cruise sat in the backseat of the double seat training version to make it look like he 's flying - like launching off the carrier, that's a real shot of Crusie in the backseat.

    I’m sure you are right about the ones where He isn’t flying but looking at the USN FA18E and the one i. The trailer he is flying, looks different. Like something custom and a bit plain.

    I’ll have to find the interview he did about it. Maybe he was talking about that plane at the end. Either way. Great breakdown. This looks to be one big commercial for the Navy. With that kind of marketing, it makes sense for them to give Cruise plenty of access
