My advice is simple: try and find something outside the box.

For example: for years Boxing was the lost-and-found of head injuries in Sport, even as guys were getting bashed up in Football, Rugby and Motorsport, and Hockey too.

Try and do a podcast on how it turns out that boxing was not so dangerous after all, and that for years these other sports had a dirty little secret they kept quiet.

Talk about how a boxer fight 12 rounds and barely suffer anything even LIKE a sub-concussive impact, but a Soccer player heads a ball 100 times a game and has a headache for a week.

I think you might be setting poor ole George up to go down a dangerous path on that topic.

While it's accurate that Football (American and International football), Rugby, Motorsport, and Hockey all carry a heavy risk of head trauma, you and I both know it's not accurate to say that boxing ISN'T dangerous - it is.

Our sport is beautiful, but make no mistake, it is indeed one of the most dangerous sports on Earth. If George and his team were to do a podcast trying to refute the dangers of boxing, it might get flagged and YT might delete his page.

If George WERE to tackle a topic like that, for validity purposes it would be wise to interview a neurologist.

Probably best to stay on less risky topics lol.

Or he could take it on more in depth and instead of trying to formulate a conclusion based on data and the opinions of professionals agree to take free shots from numerous hard punching boxers.

Basically get repeatedly blasted in the head and document the results.

We've all discussed the dangers of boxing at length.

I think they're overstated, and that the whole 'puts his life on the line' schtick is annoying and clichéd. There's more chance of dying every time you get in a car than there is getting in a boxing ring, nobody's claiming cars are immoral. Greg broadly agrees but tends to think it's a little more dangerous than I do. Zack and Bit are in similar boats.

Lachlan, on the other hand..... thinks we should go back to the days where nobody but the fighter can stop the fight and fighters are actually allowed to fight to the death lol

The risk of death is very low. Long term health effects on the other hand is an entirely different matter.

We all know about the NFL and their coverups and attempts at downplaying head injuries. I don't think direct comparisons in different sports is fair, but in this case it's not one organization having nearly total power over everything.

In addition everybody inherently knows boxing is dangerous and no amount of propaganda is going to convince people getting punched in the head is just fine for you. In short; people know what they're signing up for.

Maybe a podcast that puts a "questionable" boxer's career under the microscope. While a panel of 3 decide his verdict.

    For example

Floyd Mayweather's career. Self proclaimed undefeated fighter with a 50 and 0 record.

You start to dissect his career. Break down all his questionable wins like Castillo 1, Maidana, De La Hoya. Then you talk about his choice of opponents. Fighting a weight drained Diego Corrales, how he fought Canelo at 152, how he missed weight against an undersized Marquez, how he fought Pacquio and Cotto past their prime ect.... then a panel of 3 Judges debate if Floyd is a fraud or not and give a verdict. And call the Podcast the final judgement or the hotseat or some other catchy name. The whole point is to make it as shocking and contraversial as possible because at the end of the day thats what sells and gets views. And dont talk about sports injuries or head trauma unless you want to put people to sleep.

I loathe when I have to defend Floyd, but the only two Floyd wins where a case can be made for the opponent were Castillo 1 and Maidana 1.

Floyd beat Oscar by a clear margin.

Good call. I agree he won that fight but some people claim it was close. It was just an idea for a podcast that would generate a intrest imo.

I ran that by Lach, he likes the idea. He just said there's no way we're dedicating an entire podcast to Floyd Mayweather. Also, I thought Mayweather beat both Maidana and Castillo. I've never seen the De La Hoya fight, but I've not seen people say Floyd lost since around the time it happened.

To be honest, I found it no less thrilling than Floyd's other fights. When I watched it live I genuinely thought Oscar was in it all the way to the last couple of rounds and was certainly leading at the halfway point. I subsequently scored it and had it wider for Floyd than I remembered.

I just remembered, I have never actually watched DLH-Whitaker. I think I was flying to or about to fly to Japan when it happened and I've just never watched it 25 yrs later.

The arguments I've had based on scoring it wide for Whitaker were more dramatic than the fight.
