This why I hate boxing. Why can't a fighter wear the type of gloves he wants to wear as long as they the boxing or sanctioning regulations. I mean can ya'll imagine the New England Patriots telling the San Diego Chargers that they can use their own footballs and have to use a specific football. I mean that shit is crazy. If a fighter prefers to wear grant and you want reyes then that's your choice. Anyways Tito has now taken over the nickname called Fato Trinidad. Apparently they're still arguing over the gloves issue:

1) Roy wants Grant gloves but King's not budging (they're sticking to Everlast)
2) Also Roy's team furious over fact that Tito's gloves have been customized

Is this gamesmanship or is there real concern in Roy's camp? (i.e., fear of tampering, etc.)

What is the major difference between Grant(which I believe Roy usually wears) and Everlast...can anyone explain?

If the contract states Everlast than that is what you get. If I'm correct, the only requirement the state has is that they have to be new. Obviously they will examine the gloves, the padding, and things like that. But Roy basically will get stuck fighting Tito using Everlast and Tito will get his gloves.

This also happened when Tarver fought Muriqi. Muriqi yelled and screamed about the gloves because Tarver had custom made gloves and Muriqi said he wanted the same pair. If there was time to get him a similar pair they (his promoter) would have. He felt the leather was softer on Tarver's glove so it was an advantage. At the end of the day he would either drop out of the fight and not get paid or fight using the gloves in the contract.

That's what I think.

The design of the gloves helps protect fighters better according to some. I believe they also have more padding in the front of the glove. Everlast favors more protection around the entire hand, especially the back of the hand, so they feel it protects a puncher better. So Roy wears grants because it's a bit easier to block punhces
