Hopefully one day they will invent a place where people can share videos with each other and you could watch them online, like from a tube

Exactly, that's always the angle when people discuss it.

"If you try really, really hard, and turn the sound off, and watch the fight blindfolded, you could maybe give Tito the first round!".

YT is a last resort for me, unless there's a particularly good copy of the fight. I like to watch fights properly.

Both rounds were certainly close - neither man did much at all. I wouldn't argue the toss very strongly...... 1-1 after two probably seems fairest but you might give either round either way

word. The fight is on youtube like every other fight. What's wrong with some of these guys...still thinking it's the 1980s with VHS?

    *SIGH*

Look at rounds 1 and 2 again...just those ones. They are all that matter. Score them for Tito and he wins the fight. Split them and it's a tie.

Most agree on the scoring for round 3 onwards....and many were fooled into thinking Oscar won the first 2. He clearly didn't.

I also think De La Hoya won....but that fight wasn't anywhere near a robbery.....of a Bradley vs. Pacquiao...DLH vs. Trinidad was a 7-5...6-6...fight...either way...

As I said, I like to download as good quality copies as I can, and watch them on a big screen.

I scored the fight 8-4 the first time...and because i was a geek I wanted to make sure and watched everything in slow motion writing down jabs, power punches, body shots, glancing shots...everything......i had it then 7 rounds to 5....without question Hoya

YT has 720-1080p for a lot of fights, you can still watch them on your TV

True dat, I even have the YT app on my Plasma, and yeah there is now a lot of 720p+ content on YT. I guess I'm just so used to downloading fights, I forget. I usually use YT for fights I simply can't get anywhere else.

Rounds 1 & 2, Rounds 1 & 2. Get those rounds wrong and you score the fight wrong. EVERYONE who gave the fight to Oscar gave him the first two rounds. Rounds 1 & 2....

The reason for that is because of the prevailing notion that De La Hoya DOMINATED the fight for the first 9 rounds and Tito took the championship rounds. It's understandable to think Oscar won. But the fight was close, IMO.

    Yes.

Trinidad won the last 4 though. Many people seem to think Oscar won the first 8 or at least 7 of the first 8 (many give Tito the 4th). The perception is that Oscar already had at least 7 rounds in the bank before he gave away rounds. But...he didn't win the 1st and the 2nd. He dominated from 3-8 (with teh exception of 4)..and was in control after 8 rounds...but he only had 5 rounds to Tito's 3 or 6 to 2 at best case scenario. With Tito winning the last 4 rounds...no one can say it was a robbery.

DLH clearly won the first, he landed the only significant punches. Tito threw a lot of jabs but didn't connect with anything.

Oscar was exhausted in the late rounds. I believe he mentioned his legs were shaking from moving soo much. If he would have engaged with Tito in the late rounds it could have cost him. I had this fight a draw.

Just re-watched the 1st round. Seemed pretty clear to me that DLH won it. (And I'm one of those that are glad that Tito won)

    lol

Sound can be misleading. Commentators and crowd response can sway the perception of a fight.

For example, if you ignore the HBO commentary, Chavez-Taylor was a MUCH closer fight.

I just think it's a bit silly to assume we're all so teenybopper-ish we'd be swayed by the commentary.

On the RbR threads in Fightbeat, we routinely laugh at biased commentary, and shitty scores, often having completely different scores to the HBO/showtime. We know what we're watching, we're not casual fans.

All watching a fight with the sound off does is make it more boring and less watchable, less atmosphere, or in this case, even more boring.

As I suspected, the copy on youtube is utterly shit quality, 240p and looks like VHS

If I'm going to make the effort to watch a fight properly, I'd at least like to watch it in as good a quality as possible.

"teenybopper" or not, it's easy to be swayed by commentary. It's also easy to be swayed by the crowd reaction.
