This is a perfect example how 1 punch can end it. It's amusing to be how most here give Tito zero shot. Havent ya'll learned from Jones/Tarver?:dunno:
I think Roy pre-ruiz would have always comfortably handled Antonio. I think Tarver's size, height and reach would still keep Roy alert, but Jones' crisp counter attack and ring generalship would reign supreme.....remember Antonio never faced Roy when he had his "legs".
I'm just curious to see what weight range Tito will settle on: 154-160 (Floyd, Oscar) 168-175(Taylor, Jones, Hopkins)
I actually agree with Manny here that Tarver would always be a hard fight for Roy. A younger Roy always means a younger Tarver. Tarver and Roy were shot in that last fight. But Tarver A-defense and sneaky counters would always be his demise. C
he gave hops an oppurtunity? hops was a long time champ, tito was just coming into the weight class, ttio hasnt won a fight in a while, how does he deserve anything?
yeah, a long time champ that probably would'dve been on ESPN at best without Tito. Nobody wanted to see Hopkins, and even in Philly he couldn't sellout a small venue. His career was a joke. Let's not forget that prior to Tarver and now Winky, Hopkins lost twice to Jermain Taylor. As a middleweight Trinidad has 3 wins against 1 loss and can pack MSG. A Tito fight is lucrative for whoever fights him Cupey
first of all he beat taylor, 2nd hes old, 3rd he won rounds in that fight, what kind of all time great gets shut out and cant win a round in their top fights, great fighter can win 1 fuckin round off heart alone?
Let's see. Roberto Duran was KTFO by Hearns and didn't win one round. So I guess he must be garbage. Hearns wa destroyed by Hagler and didn't win a round, so he must be garbage. Third, Hopkins lost both times to Taylor, get over it. Cupey
Hopkins only lost to Taylor because of the judges. Just like Oscar losing to the flat-footed zombie Tito.
I'll say it again, the post-Ruiz Roy that Tarver fought 3 times had no legs.....huge difference when analyzing this matchup circa 2002 or before.
hearns fight was two rounds against duran, hagler koed hearns in 3 rounds, thats not the same as losing 12 rounds to winky, and geting ko'ed in the 12th to hops after losing every round, your post is a fuckin joke
Explain to me when it's better to get KTFO badly then chasing someone down and fighting your all for 12 rounds?? You are a joke son. Cupey
chasing down? is that what he did in the winky fight? most of us felt he gave up and didnt even try after the 7th round because he knew he lost, he didnt even try to win a round after that, he would have been ko'ed if he did what was needed to win a round in that fight, so yeah i will rather get ko'ed in what is considered one of the greatest fights of all time rather then lose in what is considered the most one sided domination of a top fighter of all time, twice fighting your all for 12, that bullshit and you know it
:dunno: After a few tune ups..let him go for it, but coming out of retirement and fighting HOpkins immediately is just stupid....
yeah, now your opinion is more important then the judges Tito beat Hoya period. He won some rounds against Hopkins. Period. you can't change those facts kid. When Tito faced an all-time great middleweight he went 12 rounds. Thomas Hearns didn't get out of the 3rd. When Duran faced an all-time great in Hearns get got KTFO in the 2nd. When Roy Jones faced and all-time milk dud he was KTFO. Sad.
Well Tito wasn't even in his prime when he fought Winky, so I'm not sure how that qualifies as the all-time domination except for a few ignorant haters. All-time domination, Glen Johnson beating the stuffing out of Roy Jones and the putting him to sleep for 30 minutes. That's domination. Cupey
Who was chasing someone down for 12 rounds? That's certainly not what I saw from Tito in that fight. He gave up real early and just ate jabs all night long.
