That seems to be the general consensus. I'm just saying with this long layoff and the beating he took how much he has left in the tank.

It's a valid point. The "old" Spence would chop Fundora down. Will he chop Fundora down after over a year off and after coming off a terrible beating? I dunno.

Fundora isn't particularly good, but he has youth and activity over Spence. And the shots he caught Lubin with might be enough to cut and swell Spence.

So like I said earlier in the thread, I would favor Spence simply on class, but if Fundora beat the 2024 Spence I wouldn't consider it a big upset.

As he should. I just don't see it as a given. Pre-Crawford it would be a given. Pre-car accident, Spence vs Fundora would be a mismatch.

 

Spence will be much stronger not having to boil down to 147

 

How do you think Spence would do vs Wright, Vargas, Trinidad, De La Hoya? Spences best win is beating Mikey Garcia. Hes still a very good fighter but my opinion of spence as a top tier fighter is not what it was 3 years ago.

 

Spence would lose to every single one of those guys. Even the pre-accident Spence. Vargas was too big and strong for him. Wright was too big, too strong, and too skilled for him. Oscar was too fast for him. And Trinidad had wayyyy too much firepower for him.

Trinidad vs Spence would be ugly.... for Spence.

What's funny about that? The Spence of 5-7 years ago would indeed smash Fundora.

 

Spence at his peak would be competitive with Trinidad or fishnets.

He never fought at 154 yet but I also think he'd be competitive with vargas and Wright

Ehhh, Fundora isn't that good man. If he beats Spence in 2024 it'll be because what Spence no longer is rather than what Fundora is.

Spence would only be competitive with Trinidad until Tito warns up and finds his range. After that, it'd be a violent beating.

 

There's been party animals fighters or guys with vices who've had all time great careers; notably, Benitez, Whitaker, Gomez, Pryor, Camacho. Difference is, those five fighters were exceptional talents, so they got away with it for awhile.

Spence is a workhorse type fighter. Doesn't have great natural gifts. Guys like that can't afford to be party animals.

 

I agree guys like Spence need to be focused gym rats ala Hopkins. I would also add Chavez as a guy that performed despite his vices. Coked out and all he was a beast.
