WHY DO I HAVE TO LIKE NAM? I swear you idiots attack people with different opinions for what reason? I am not a fan of his fighting style. Sorry. I am not as impressed with him the way you guys are. I see a fighter with limited skill. I told you he wasnt going to the finals. I told you he would lose his first fight in the UFC what more do you want? I DONT THINK HE IS GOOD. this is my opinion. You guys have yours and i respect that. Respect mine.
I don't have a problem with your opinion of Nam, you're entitled to it. And I'm not even a fan of Nam. My favourite fighter this season is Cody by a mile. I just think Nam is a pretty good, solid little fighter. Not a world beater, just solid. What I do have a problem with is scoring that fight for Garcia. HE BARELY FUCKING HIT NAM. Literally, most of his punches missed by 2 foot. If you think he landed more strikes you are clinically insane or blind. Nam won every round. I'm beginning to think Godfather actually knows Nam and has a personal problem with him. Nobody with the brain power to walk, eat, and use a computer could think Garcia won that fight.
Yes as he proved against Melendez. And then swisssssssssshhhhhhhhhh back to Japan to get back on the winning track. How come he doesn't have anything else planned with Strikeforce? Was the loss to Melendez that devastating? Seriously, Aoki is lucky he isn't stuck in the UFC's 155 pound division. With his crappy stand up and complete lack of take down defense, I'm not sure he'd crack the top 5. Maybe, but it's clear the top guys Edgar and Maynard would bitch slap him. I would love to see him fight Penn or Sotiropolous though. I think Penn would likely keep it standing and knock him out. But rematch with Sotiropolous at 155 fight would be interesting. I never saw their first bout. I know it was a DQ, but how was it going? George is a completely different animal now, but I am curious.
You know, I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but in all honesty I wouldn't pick him against any of the following: Edgar Maynard Penn Florian Sotiropolous Ben Henderson Jim Miller Evan Dunham Sean Sherk Donald Cerrone So in reality, I'm not sure he'd crack the Top 10 in the UFC's 155 pound division. Seriously.
Well then i guess im a fucking idiot then. Thats fine. But Nam didnt win round 1 or 3 IMO. You dont win by throwing 5 punches.
It's funny, but I've been reading where fans and reporters alike are listing this as one of the worst decisions in MMA history. Again, I thought Nam won narrowly but I wouldn't call it anything close to a robbery. In fact, I kind of like the idea of judges rewarding activity and deducting for lack of activity. It really wasn't a horrific decision.
Because one fight makes a career and Kawajiri is a bum. Oh and that guy that everyone is hyping, Alvarez I think is his name? Yeah, Aoki beat him too.
What? Does that rationale only apply to guys named Fedor? Your hypocrisy is amazing. The bottom line is that Aoki has fought outside the comfort of Japan ONCE. And he was absolutely handled like an unruly 3 year old. I have no problem with Aoki staying in Japan and being the best LW outside Strikeforce, UFC and Bellator. Hell, maybe he can bolster his record by beating Hellboy again. Yeah, that would do it. :scratcher:
GF must have been drunk when he watched the Nam fight. That was one of the worst robberies I have ever witnessed. Nam won every round. Easily. You don't score rounds for a guy for TRYING to punch the other guy. Nam beat his ass!!!
It wasnt. You got people that dont even know what they saw. They are in love with Nam for some reason. Nam's eye was swollen, nams head was cut because he wasnt getting hit. :dunno:
I agree, I think this is the single worst MMA decision I've ever seen. If two guys land equal number of punches, then sure, favour the aggressor. I do it in boxing, my scoring is fairly consistent. Of course, if the punches landed are pretty even, but the LESS aggressive guy lands the cleaner, harder punches, I'll give it to him. Garcia barely touched nam. You don't score rounds for thrown punches, you score rounds for landed blows. I don't care if Garcia threw 3 times as many punches as Nam, because Nam LANDED at least 3 times more. You score fights on landed punches, not thrown. Scoring that fight for Garcia is like having Gatti or Mayorga ahead on the cards against Oscar. It's that absurd.
At moments, he looked that way standing against Melendez. Honestly, I'm not sure I've ever seen a supposed world class fighter look so clueless in a fight. It was as if he didn't know the rules until the first bell rung.
Hansen was a top 8 LW at the time. Another fail. Aoki is regarded as a top 5 LW by most major publications. Why? Because unlike Nick Diaz, he actually has beaten top 10 fighters, and has a positive record against the good fighters he's faced by a good margin.
If that is the worst decision he has ever seen in MMA and you think he has a point, you both need to sit down and watch more MMA.
Despite being a 33 year old pro wrestler, counting the unification bouts, a man who fits that description to a tee has the most title defenses at HW in the UFC.
Rampage vs. Rua Machida vs. Shogan I HAMILL VS. BISPING!!!!! Beebe vs. Easton!! Those are some fucking roberries. even if you think Garcia lost, it was no way a roberry. No fucking way. Again nam's face was swollen and head was cut, taken down and exausted because he didnt get hit right?
I agree. Aoki is typically regarded far higher than he should be. But that's laughable. For example, I've read three publication/rankings than have him ranked higher than Melendez NOW.... And by the way, we aren't comparing Aoki to Diaz. We are comparing him to other 155 pounders. I can't find a single one in my Top 10 aside from Alvarez, that Aoki has beaten. But it's not just Aoki. Current Dream champions just haven't been able to hang in the cage at Strikeforce. Current WW Champion Zaromskis; current MW and LH Champion Moussasi and LW Champion Aoki have all been horsewhipped and sent back to Japan. Well, Zaromskis hasn't fought in Japan again, yet, but will on New Years Eve. It's really pathetic that all these guys developed a following and world class reputations only to get beaten by Melendez, Diaz, King Mo and Santos who wouldn't crack anyone's Top 10 P4P. MMA is tough in the US? :dunno: And again, your hypocrisy is amazing. Could you imagine if Fedor got dominated for 5 rounds in his first bout in the US? Holy shit you'd be crying about how he got exposed. Just apply the same rationale evenly dude.
He got finished in like two minutes against his first live body here. Unless you count the tire changer, fatass Sylvia and Arshotsky. Melendez hardly exposed Aoki. He just negated him by outwrestling him. That's like saying Gray Maynard dominated Frankie Edgar. Aoki didn't get busted up or anything. Melendez had home field advantage in a cage where Aoki had never fought. Melendez also wants no part of Aoki in Japan where he'll have to go through the same disadvantage. Same with Mo and Mousasi, Mo was the one who got busted up. Mousasi would kill him in a rematch anyway and is going to get the title back soon. Aoki just took Kawajiri out of the top 10, and that is arguable since MMAWeekly and Sherdog still have him in there. Gain some prospective, for the love of God. He also beat JZ Calvan when he was the shit.
Ummm, fail... Fedor destroyed Mark Coleman in Vegas way back in 2006. Don't you remember? It was the first Pride event outside Japan? Nevertheless, Fedor is 3-1 in the US. Aoki is 0-1 and ran scared from the cage. And get real dude. Melendez won nearly every second of every round with better stand up, easy take downs and absolute ground control. Spin it if you want, but Aoki, Zaromskis, and Moussasi all failed miserably. And of the group, I would say Aoki was the one that failed most miserably to live up to the hype.
98 year old Coleman. Also last I checked, fighting in the US does not automatically make one a better fighter.
Anyway, heres the KO I was talking about. Not for the weak of heart. http://videos.sapo.pt/dHQObqfTa8s7ZLAOCCVb
This was worse than Hamill vs Bisping IMO. You seem to be the only one in here that doesn't think so. Is there anyone else on this board who thought Garcia won?
You have one person who thought he won and another person who thought it wasnt a robbery. In a board with only about 7 regular posters, those odds arent that bad. Im pretty sure if you went on a forum with more members, you would see. You think this is worse than Hamill vs Bisping? Oh my lord of i have seen it all.
:: 5 punches ??! Are you serious ? He probably threw like 100 to Garcias 150, the difference being Nam landed at 50% and Garcia landed at 13%. Plus Nams shots were harder, and had Garcia hurt to the body and face beaten to a semi-pulp. Nothing about anything that happened in that fight suggests that Garcia won a single round.
