Bullshit. You and Tyler are spiteful because in your minds Mike was stupid... somehow that equates with a need for prison. Reed and I understand that people who never learned how to do things right had no way of knowing how to do things right.

And yeah Mike should have learned, but since when is ignorance a reason to put somoene in prison? There are restrictive environments that are not prison. I think Mike should be monitered and in a half way house.

When my mother in law died, she had an estate. I had never cared about, nor knew anything about financial matters. My family has always been bad with money. I had to make a decision. I had to learn how to handle financial matters. I had a wife who believed in me, an education (i year of a PH.D) and friends I could ask questions. It was still a hell of a time to learn about these things... even with every possible advantage. Now, keep in mind, my mother in law's estate was at around 500 thousand, which is nothing.....

Imagine for a second if I was illiterate, suddenly had 500 million, no friends to trust, people involved with the money who knew how to get at it and were not acting in my best interests..., etc, etc, you get the idea! That is what Mike had to deal with and a lot of people fuck up in this situation BTW Mike is hardly alone.

Don't be so quick to judge... Everyday there is a person who had too much and fucked up because they did not have the tools to handle it. Some people swear that too much is worse than too little! You know? most lottery winners are broke... should they go to debtors prison?:dunno:

There is a name for people like this who actually CAN get help, they are called losers :dunno: Using your rationale, there is no such thing. The guy is a 30 time fuck up, what do you want? An apology?

The moron isn't 20 something anymore. There HAS to be a point where you start to factor in accountability, there has to be?

I think you are so quick to condemn for your own personal reasons... You have a need to judge and to name call Mike. I respect that this is personal for you on some level (you mentioned your experience so permit my assumption) but I maintain that this line of, or lack of, reasoning does nothing but make the prison industry richer.

Mike has been a loser Tyler but why that equates with prison when he could be monitered in a less restrictive way is just spite to me, I don't see the logic of it. Not for Mike, not for people like my brother in law (he has schizophrenia) and not for others who are losers but don't necessarily need prison time.

I never said he should go to prison nor that he belongs in prison. My argument was that there should not be anymore "Poor Mike" posts in his defense.

Seriously Poor__name?______ arguments are no good for anybody at anytime IMO. We all make the beds we sleep in and we all have to learn to cope with the curveballs that come from life. Bar none. I don't excuse Mike, but I also try to have compassion for everybody and I don't like to blame people. You know the old Indian saying, never judge another man unless you have walked a mile in his mocassins.

It's not strictly a ghetto thing although many people in ghettos use drugs...but then again many people NOT in ghettos use drugs. Heck, Clinton did, the Governator did, Obama did, and Dubya SOUNDS like he did.

How did Cus D'Amato leech off of him? Cus was a trainer who already had trained Floyd Patterson, Jose Torres, and a number of then-lesser known fighters and trainers like Kevin Rooney and Teddy Atlas.

Okay, I gotta say I disagree, dude. While Tyson was young and impressionable to an extent, he was 21 and in charge of his own life as are all other adults when they hit 21.

I was living on my own when I was 15, and before that I had a lot of bad shit happen to me which I won't go into detail about here, but when I was living on my own, my choices---good or bad---were choices that I made. When I was beating up kids in grade school and high school, it was my choice to do so and it was my responsibility.

You can say you feel for the person and whatnot, but the fact remains that he continues to do these things because he makes the choices to do them. He's going on forty now; he's gotta take responsibility for his actions sometime in spite of apologists feeling bad for him because he's a famous sports figure who went rags-to riches-back to rags. Heck, the only reason anybody here gives a shit about him is because he's a boxer. If he weren't, 99.99999% of the people here would have never heard of him. And I doubt anybody here runs around to jails and homeless shelters, feeling bad for all the people there and apologizing for those people.

Nobody made him try to force himself on Teddy Atlas's 12 year old niece when Tyson was 16-17. He did that himself. All I'm saying is that he has a long history of bad behaviour. His various victims over the years, like that 57 year old that he beat up because of the fender bender a few years back, would probably tell you that his choices are his own, and those people suffered as a result.:dunno:

Cus USED Mike Tysons BOXING TALENT...

Cus ENABLED ALOT of the Behavior that Tyson STILL Struggles w/Today, as Opposed to ADDRESSING it Back then...

Obviously, Cus WASN'T PURELY Selfish, but let's NOT Pretend that he Would've Given a Shit about Mike if he COULDN'T Fight...

But couldn't the same be said for most, if not all, managers and/or trainers when they come across a particularly promising prospect? I doubt most managers & trainers take on fighters because they think they are swell guys. So it's not like Tyson was the only fighter to have someone offer to train him due strictly to his potential as a fighter.

    Yep...

But the "Story" is, Cus Took a Young Criminal from Juvenile, Taught him to Box Out of the Kindness of his Heart, yet Tragically DIED B 4 All of his Teachings could FULLY B Imbedded Into the Criminal's SOUL...

N NO Way is REED Insinuating that Cus Meant ANY HARM to Mike Tyson, but @ the Same Time, he ENABLED Some of the Same Behavior that Tyson STILL Exhibits & "Like I Said Before", he WOULDN'T have Given 2 Shits about Tyson if he COULDN'T Fight...

Just like you and I don't give a sh*t about any of these homeless guys dying on the street. If they were great athletes whom we had one time loved, maybe we'd take notice.:dunno:

Cus fed him and trained him, and Cus was really old at that point, so it wasn't like Cus was thinking, "Mike's gonna get me lots of bitches, blowjobs, and bling!" Cus didn't have a lot of time, so he spent it training people because that's what he had done for decades. You never know, if Tyson got hurt, Cus might have trained him to be a trainer. :dunno:

It kills me that people think Cus was selfish for training Mike and bringing him to live with him. Cus trained boxers. He saw potential with Mike. It's not like Mike was treated like one of Vick's pitbulls.

If there was anybody who was truly selfish, it was the 'brothas' whom Tyson aligned with, particularly Don King. The same people who told Tyson that he had to get away from the white man, especially Bill 'Satan'.

Maybe I am naive but it seems to me you can have it both ways. Tyson can take responsability for his behavoir and society can meet him half way. I don't think Mike is a victim, I think he is a guy who has some serious problems and no tools to deal with these problems. Is that his fault? Sort of an academic question imo.

People used the guy's wealth as REED has said, there is no denying that fact. How that translates is a bit more of a complex issue. But at the end of the day the guy has suffered tremendously, I don't see him getting a free pass. The rape charge was bogus, people leeched the guy dry and he has mental health issues, he has been victimized, even if he can't claim to be a victim.

I just think that obviously he needs a restrictive environment to learn what a normal life even is!! and I question why this has to be a punitive environment. What people tend to forget is that Tyson cried out for help, i.e. he didn't deny his behavoir when he was pulled over and he has made an effort to rehab. I honestly wonder if Mike Tyson even knows what it is like to get up in the morning, have a few expectations to meet during the day, share a meal with friends or family, and retire for the evening. I mean fuck the guy is worshipped and then hung out to dry?

Even Lewis used Tyson imo. Tyson was not ready to fight Lewis and said as much. Lewis assumed very little risk in that fight.

I don't really feel sorry for Mike, he's does that part for himself enough. Well, I feel sorry for what him in what his childhood was like, but there's only so much I can sympathize since he's 40+ years old and had so many opportunities. There are a lot of people who have terrible childhoods and most don't have the talent/opportunities that Tyson had. I feel sorry for what Tony Ayala went thru in his childhood but I still think he is a waste of human life. Admittedly being a big fan of Mike, it's easier to root for Mike to get his life together despite the bad things he's done (or may have done).

I don't know if incarceration will help him, it hasn't seemed to in the past, but he shouldn't be treated any different because of his status so I don't really care either way.

According to some people, Mike took care of that part himself.

    I don't think it's true though (I hope not).

Cus D'Amato was a BRILLIANT Man, BUDDY...

As Such, he DIDN'T Want his Lasting Legacy to B Floyd Patterson Getting BOUNCED Off the Canvas by Liston...

Jack Newfield, Author of the Don King Bio, Said that Cus Looked @ Tyson as his "Revenge on the Boxing World; HIS Sonny Liston"...

It Wasn't like Cus Saw Mike as a Kid who MIGHT Pan Out into Something, Cus was GUARANTEEING for YEARS that Mike would Not Only WIN the Heavyweight Title, but B THE YOUNGEST Heavyweight Champion EVER...

So Yeah, Cus "Fed him, Trained him" & Whatnot...But AGAIN, Cus UNDENIABLY ENABLED some of the BAD Behaviors that Mike STILL Exhibits Today...

It's Funny, Everybody Wants to CREDIT Cus for ALL the GOOD that Tyson did, yet when Cus had the Chance to INFLUENCE Mike's Decision Making Processes (N Terms of Forcing Himself on Females or Robbing People),NOBODY Wants to Give Cus even a SHRED of the Blame...

Bottom Line, Cus D'Amato was THE FIRST Positive Male Role Model that Tyson Probably EVER Had...Mike was like 12 when they Met & STILL In a Position to B "Rescued" so to Speak...

WHO was Mike's Guardian when he Got Touchy Feely w/Atlas' Niece???...Who SWEPT Incidents w/School Teachers UNDER the Rug??...

Making Mike Tyson a Good PERSON WASN'T @ the Forefront of Cus' Mind...Making him a World Champion was...

To Paraphrase a VERY Poignant Tyson Quote, "There's ALOT of People who CONTRIBUTED to Turning My Life into the MESS that it is, But I'm the Only 1 that has to DEAL w/it."

Cus's way of helping Mike deal with his self-esteem problems with his looks and girls was to give him a baseball bat and tell him "you can beat away the women once you are the HW champion of the world".

Jack Newfield....I'm not the type to wish death on people, but almost everytime I see Bert Sugar on some show yapping away, I think "why couldn't Jack Newfield have lived longer instead?"

Yeah? Tyson was the one barking about wanting to kill Lewis while all his crazed fans were talking mad sh*t. Tyson should've stayed quiet like a good boy rather than digging his own grave.

:nono:Don't be like that dsimon. I'm just calling the card as it's shown to me. Sure, maybe Tyson in hindsight was trying to sell the fight or trying to stall the fight or whatever. From the looks of it in his interviews, he was throwing out vulgarity and profanities and talking mad sh*t about the man. Why would you talk sh*t about a man whom you want no part of?
Tyson was talking massive amounts of crap for years before he even signed the contract to fight Lewis. I think you're really bending over backwards for Tyson, dsimon. I don't think I'm in the wrong here.
And I also don't wish any harm upon Tyson nor do I want to see him serving time.
