Question: You mma guys probably get this alot. But where are the big fat guys with 1 boxing gloves from ufc 1? That's what mma is missing.

Also, do you you get beeper reception in a cage? If i become a cagefighter I may be expecting a page.

It was his longest layoff ever. He just had major surgery and his arm was broken. He had an excuse for looking like crap.

That is the brilliance of Dana White. Guys like Rothwell and Yvel shouldn´t be on a PPV main card and Franklin/Liddell shouldn´t main event them, but tell that to UFC fans and they´ll call you a hater.

Not really. Almost every person on here, including myself said this should have been a Spike TV card. No question. There wasn't a top 5 guy fighting in any of the bouts.

Where you get called a hater is when you say something moronic like Areola being able to walk into the cage and beat Yvel or Rothwell in an MMA bout. That doesn't make you a hater, that makes you stupid.

    But Here's the Thing...

In the EVER PRESENT (& SILLY) MMA vs. Boxing Debate, the Pro-MMA Faction ALWAYS Clings to the Belief that the UFC Puts Out a "Superior Product" &/or "Caters to its Fans" MORESO than Boxing Does...That's an OFT Used Angle in these On-Going e-Battles...

REED Didn't See the Card, but just By REEDing this Thread, UFC 115 Certainly DID NOT Live Up to the So-Called "Standard", that MMA Lovers Attribute to the UFC...So Quite NATURALLY, the Pro-Boxing Faction will TAKE TURNS Reminding the MMA Guys about it...

Based on what? The fact that he has over 30 mma fights and has only lost to Machida, Anderson Silva, Belfort and a razor thin decision to Henderson?

Please the guy could fight at 185 tomorrow and beat everyone in the UFC south of Anderson Silva. Franklin will never be considered elite, but the guy is far from being crap.

It was still a very entertaining card in my opinion. The emergence of Evan Dunham as a real threat; the comeback brutality of Carlos Condit; the beat down of Paulo Thiago; the determination of Cro Cop; and the 1 round slugfest between Liddell and Franklin were all good fights.

But in my opinion, an event shouldn't be PPV unless there is someone from the top five of a division versus another person in the top 5. This card was lacking that. There isn't a single guy that fought at UFC 115 that I can envision in a title fight anytime soon. The lone exception was Tyson Griffin who was thrown off that track by losing clearly to Evan Dunham.

Nevertheless, the boxing v mma tilt on this thread started when a guy purposefully came into this thread to solely comment on how you wouldn't see fat slobs like Yvel and Rothwell in boxing. Just a ridiculous comment regardless of how good or bad this card was.

I was at a concert last night, so I only saw the Cro Cop fight and the Liddell\Franklin fight, and thought both were entertaining. It's a shame that Liddell's chin has turned into Maurice Blocker's. He was looking pretty good up until the KO.

Franklin is a B- level fighter at best and nothing more. 185 has been the UFC's worst division for a very long time, especially around the time Franklin won the belt. It's still the same now. Take away Anderson Silva and the division is pure garbage. Marquadt, Sonnen as top fighters?

Im pretty sure they are guaranteed PPVs in thier contracts. I remember Dana giving an interview saying this. Said fighters have PPV contracts and have to find them PPV dates.

The card wasnt bad actually. The cro-Cop fight was terrific. Almost emotional and the Liddle vs. Franklin card was a slugfest until someone got knocked out. Cant really ask for more.

So what U're Saying is, MMA "Blasts from the Past" R PPV Worthy???...

NONE of the Featured Fighters will Make So Much as a RIPPLE in the UFC Title Picture of their Respective Divisions, so let's "Cater to the Fans" by Charging them $49.95 to Watch them Anyways???...

I guess we can let the numbers speak as to whether the card was PPV worthy or not.

I'm guessing that with 114 only 2 weeks ago, and 116 in 3 weeks, and the fact that both headliners are past their prime...but still big names in the sport, the buyrate will be about 350K-400K.

But I think asking fans to shell out upwards of $50 for 3 PPV's in 5 weeks is just too much, no matter who is on the card.

First he was crap and now he's 'B' level. You need to make up your mind Joe.

I'll accept B level and we have no debate.

For a "main event" fighter in his prime, B- level is crap. Now add 5 years and KO losses and you have crap. Rich Franklin is crap.

Well, revise it however you want, I don't care. But what you said is that Franklin has always looked like crap. And that's just a moronic comment. Period.

I dont think so, but there are liddel fans out there that we will disagree and actually pay for it. Did you buy this PPV? No. Did I? No. But i know people did. So if Dana can make money putting this one, who are we to say anything. People bought it. Still a fun card. Better than the last PPV IMO, which was a complete let down.

The event did turn in a decent live gate. Apparently 17,000 people and $4.2 million. That probably makes it almost profitable if not one single person PPV it.

REED Isn't Pointing the Finger @ YOU Necessarily, but MANY MMA Fans have CRITICIZED Boxing for Putting SHOPWORN &/or SHOT Pugilists in PPV Main Events...Now, those Same Critics Can RIGHTFULLY Applaud Liddell vs. Franklin???...

I'd rather watch Franklin vs Liddell than Roy vs Hopkins any day. They are on the same level really, but one is a boring fight while the other was pretty exciting while it lasted. So give me shot no chin MMA fighters over old defensive boxers.

It all depends on the fighters, more so then the sport. Of course Liddell\Franklin was gonna be a better fight then the Roy\Hopkins rematch, just because of the styles and chins of the fighters.

Liddell and Franklin, regardless of their skill level at this point in their career, are rarely if ever in boring fights. The fight, as far as title implications, meant nothing. But entertainment wise you knew it was gonna be pretty good...which it was.

Going into Roy\Hopkins 2, was anyone actually expecting an entertaining fight? So that's where the difference lies.

Man, I have to ask the question again, who has applauded Franklin-Liddell as a PPV worthy main event?

Almost everything I read and eveyone I talked to gave me the impression that no one thought this was worthy of the $50.

As I said in the first page of this thread, I am typically the kind of fan that will spin a match up every direction to make it seem worthy. Even I couldn't find the value, on paper, in this card. It lacked even a single relevant fighter in terms of potential title impact.

Wrong Reed. You asked if he thought the card was PPV worthy and he said HE DIDN'T THINK SO but Liddell fans might.
