Hell a rib injury, even without having a broken rib, can seriously make breathing difficult so I don't underestimate it. I just always hate it when a fighter says: "Not to make excuses, but........"
Anderson had no problem with the jumping knee that almost dropped Sonnen. He also had no problem moving in and out with combinations. His ribs didn't seem to be causing a problem then, nor did he wince when punched to the body by Sonnen. I'm not saying he's lying, but I definitely wouldn't have guessed at a rib injury beforehand, and I wouldn't have guessed that he would be able to move around on the ground or wallclimb like he did. He jumped up the stairs like usual and sidestepped around the ring at a jogging pace. It didn't look to me like he had a rib injury at all. Maybe he was just really good at hiding it?
Adrenaline.... Did you notice Rich Franklin broke his arm before he told everyone? I'm not saying Silva was injured, but it is possible considering I don't think I have ever heard him make an excuse for a bad performance before.
Yeah but he's also never been handled like that and needed an excuse. I don't if he was or wasn't hurt but I still think great wrestling was the bigger factor.
