while I disagree with you on thinking Bader can control Jones, I do agree with you on the personal wrestling experience. I was a taller skinny kid, wrestled very light in highschool. The short stocky kids, were always difficult. funny you mentioned leg riding. Thats all I did from the top. I wasn't great a wrestling but above average, placed in state all 4 years of high school, taking 2nd my senior year. (lost to a kid for the championship I had beat twice already that season.:bangh:)
Trust me, I would be the last one to say that lanky dudes like myself can't wrestle. I just know how many times I wished I was a bit shorter with shorter limbs. It's one of the reasons I didn't stick with it. Well, that and the fact that I was lazy and the wrestlers worked harder than any other athletes on campus. Bar none. And I think you're right. Getting Jones down and controlling him are two different things. Hell, I might be way off. Jones may be able to use his length to sprawl and use long leverage to use Bader's momentum to get throws. It's those things that make this such an interesting fight.
5'10" 175 pounds when he wrestled in college? Askren was thin but I'm not sure I'd call him lanky. Jon Fitch would be a better example if you're looking for MMA guys that wrestled. He's 6'1" and fights at 170. He is lanky. Askren, not so much. But again, for every lanky college wrestling champ, I'll show you 2 that are stocky. Man, you would contradict the sky being blue. What a fucktard.
Man... I give up... Jones is the lankiest fighter in the 205 pound division. Period. Askren isn't even close to being lanky compared to other 170 pound fighters. Jon Jones is 6'4", has an ungodly 84" reach and a 36" inseam... THAT is lanky. Holy shit. I have honestly never run into a bigger moron in my life. And I'm old.
Of course, he's obviously short and stocky. As is Bader. Who will take Jones down at will, based on Jones being lanky. Jones has only outwrestled other lanky wrestlers so far, like Matt Hamill and Matyushenko.

The answer to that question is YES! TLC is in a world of his own 90% of the time. The irony exists in the fact that he will staunchly defend his position after everybody else picks his logic apart.
Gee guys, I wonder who is going to win out of Silva and Belfort? Such an intriguing fight. Honestly, it's a pathetic main event. Although more unknown, Bader vs Jones is a far more compelling fight, and should really be the main event.
Yeah it really does suck. I dont care how much Dana tried to hype it, Vitor hasn't really done shit in over 10 years. Not to mention the recent injury, layoff, and big weight cut.
Its all about the image, you know that Bob. This fight will most likely end in a KO/TKO and look real good for Silva. Dana has to do something to get Silva's image back up. His prior outings haven't been great for this image of invincability the UFC tries to project for Silva. Guaranteed, when Silva gets the win, Joe Rogan will really sell it big.
Silva beats Belfort. Vitor tends to come up short during the big ones I think Rocha gets Ellenberger. Jones beats Bader by decision. If Torres is on track, he should take it. That's my pick. Griffin beats Franklin in a close one.
Yeah. That's my biggest beef with Dana and the UFC. The bullshit hype machine crap. Just let em fight and let the fans Make their own judgements
i agree it is a fight not worthy of it's hype, but it is an interesting fight. 2 years ago Silva would have been a 100-1 favorite to dispose of him in the 1st round, but his form hhas been sluggish lately, and Vitor does have a puncher's chance. I realize they're giving him Vitor because he's tailor made for him pretty much, but it could still be interesting.
I just watched the countdown for this event. Good to see they replayed the KO of Tre Telligman and that obese toy seller about 200x to promote the fight.

This is a great main event. Even if Belfort sucks and is shot, there will tense moments because the dude can still bang. This is a great card top to bottom.
