Shogun has looked horrible in every fight that went rounds in the UFC. I guess he's only the "Old Shogun" when he gets an early KO.

He showed no problems with his knee in the fight. None whatsoever.

Who said he would? Did he show any problems with his knee in the Griffin fight?

Did Barboza show any problems with his hand or leg in the Njoukani fight, besides the fact that he looked significantly less active and explosive?

His conditioning and fitness was the most effected anyway.

Agreed. He had no problem leaning on both knees while tapping out.

    No, he's probably shot.

Even if he can recover and get his fitness up to par after adequate resting and re-hab, the fact that he had TWO ACL surgeries on the same knee, he's not going to be the same ever again.

Nearly all athletes aren't the same after ONE, let alone a second.

Well Machida just lost a decision to Rampage just to put that performance into perspective.

I wouldn't disagree with this. But it is improving dramatically. I think the fall off isn't near where it was a decade ago.

I look at the virtual knee injury poster child, Willis McGahee, would had one of the absolute worst knee injuries you can imagine in tearing his ACL, PCL ad MCL in the Championship against OSU. The guy missed an entire NFL season in recovery but rushed for 1200 yards the following year and ended up being a Pro Bowl back.

The list of guys that have had ACL reconstruction in the NFL to comeback and be successful in the NFL is very long. But, there is no denying that they aren't exactly the same. Sticking with the McGahee example, he literally could have been a HOF back if not for the injury. Career numbers are speculation, but before the injury he was a no-brainer top 5 draft pick.

    It took

McGahee completely fell apart. Not to mention he was young when that happened.

For ever McGahee there is multiple guys like Jamal Mashburn of Antonio McDyess

Shogun is already 29. And even when he did look recovered, he tore his knee again.

Yeah but McGahee's injury was far, far worse than any of Shogun's. And fell apart? The dude recovered and has 3 seasons with over 1000 yards rushing. Not to shabby for a guy that would have been in a wheelchair had he been injured in the 70's.

But in this day and age, the stories of guys like Ronnie Brown (ACL in 2007; Pro Bowl in 2008) at 27 are far more common.

And seriously, Mashburn and McDyess didn't have ligament injuries. I can't remember Mashburn's but McDyess completely ruptured his patella tendon. For those that don't have the amateur orthopedic fascination that I do, that is basically the tendon that holds your knee cap in place. When you rupture this, you aren't walking at all until it's repaired. I rehabbed with a a dude that ruptured his and the leg extension machine literally brought him to tears daily.

Brown's Pro Bowl was complete bullshit dude. You know that. It completely destroyed him as a player as well. He was on his way to leading the league in yards at one point, now he's in street clothes.

Shogun recovered, but got re-injured, I think that's just as bad as McGahees, and also at a lot older age.

Brown will play somewhere next year. He's one of the top 3-5 free agent RB's in the NFL. (Obviously a strike nixes my comments). Regardless, he isn't in 'street clothes'.

And Brown averaged the same YPC AFTER knee reconstruction as he did in his rookie year. And his best full year, the WILDCAT year, was post knee injury.

And no, emphatically NO, Shogun has never, ever, even come close to sustaining NEAR the damage to his knee as McGahee. He could tear his same replacement ligament 5 times and not be in McGahee's area. Period.

916 on the ground, 252 receiving and even threw for 2 TD's.

Don't step to me on Ronnie Brown or the Dolphins.

Oh. My bad. Real pro bowl worthy by the way.

He got in because they probably felt bad for him.

Maybe, but the point is that he came back from ACL reconstruction 6 months after surgery and led his team in rushing and got a Pro Bowl nod.

Yet somehow, Rua can't get in shape 8 months after surgery.:wack:

Shogun clearly was lethargic in that fight. But he got so throughouly dominated that I wonder if even a prime Rua would fare better.

He had a garbage year and a garbage career.

    Much like anyone would expect.

900 yards in a season for what should've been a top tier back is garbage.

It's SHAMEFUL that U Can PREDICT a 1-Sided LOSS for Jones, yet Fail to Give him even an OUNCE of Credit Upon Being PROVEN WRONG...

Not really, I predicted Jones' only chance would be if a shell of Rua showed up like the Forrest fight, and it did. So congrats to Jones.

So when he wins he's great but when he loses he's a shell of himself and/or injured and/or didn't train ? Get real TLC Shogun's UFC run sucks dick. He only beat Machida because Machida fights at a snail's pace and you could say it suited Shogun hence you could say he has Machida's number. Fighting Machida requires as much cardio as playing chess since it's virtually the same thing. A move and then 30 seconds rest...Jones beat his ass fair and square with only a couple of weeks rest from his last fight. Just because your favorite figher loses doesn't mean something was wrong with him. Shogun is a great guy and was gracious in defeat. You should try the same.
