Eh, to be fair, best and Champion aren't always the same and as it turned out, Couture beat Tito in his very next fight becoming the Champ.

I can't wait for the day that a new, up and coming fighter credits Tai-Bo for his success. Or maybe a 1976 Chuck Norris kick boxing instruction book.

    :bears:

I'm still waiting for someone to use the touch of death in the cage.

Or for someone to yell FATALITY before ripping a dazed opponents head off.

    Matt Hughes

You could throw BJ Penn in there too at the lower weight.

When Chuck stumbled over to Pride, Wanderlai Silva was the best 205'r on the planet in my opinion. In the UFC, it was Couture.

Fucker, I thought we were talking about LHW. Hughes was dominated then.

Yes, I want to see Jones apply the five point palm exploding heart punch against Rashad Evans.

Jones delivers the technique and then walks away as Evans looks shocked and then collapses.

He was beat after that Tournnament. But he was the best they had. My point was that it was the UFC trying to claim they had the best fighters. Everyone knew pride has the best fighters around. And at 205 silva was the man.

With Shogun rising at the end of Silva's "reign". I think it was the same tournment where Rampage took Chuck to the ground and pounded the body with vicious elbows. Chuck didn't tap, but he was DONE. Probably the worst beating Chuck ever took, if not the first fight with Couture.

I think overall, the talent was about equal at that time in Pride and the UFC. The UFC had better guys at lower weights, like Penn and Hughes and even Jens Pulver at that time.

No way the talent in pride and the UFC was equal at the time.

Jens Pulver wasnt fighting in the UFC around that time. He actually fought in pride and other orginzations around that time. So you can add pulver to the pride side really. There was also Dan Henderson and Gomi

All UFC had at that time fully on was Matt Hughes. even BJ Penn at that time wasnt really a UFC fighter. He fought in many different orginzations.

BJ was definitely in the UFC then he had 7 fights in the UFC before 2003. Who in Pride would have beaten BJ at LW or Hughes at WW?

He wasnt exclussive to the UFC tho. He was fighting in different orginzations. He could have fought in Pride if he wanted.

Ok makes sense, he started his career in the UFC, had only fought in the UFC up to that point, but he wasn't a UFC fighter. :atu:

We will never agree on this. I think it was pretty equal in terms of overall talent. I think the UFC had the edge in lower weights and Pride had the best HW and LHW at the time.

Well he wasnt. what do you want me to tell you. Durring the time chuck went over there, BJ was actually fighting gomi at Rumble on the Rock. Facts are Facts. My point is that he wasnt exlussive to the UFC at the time like matt Hughes was. He could have very easily fought in Pride just like he did in Rumble on the rock.
