:::UFC 172::: FIGHT DISCUSSION - Jones vs. Teixeira

Great performance by Jones. Stood right in front on Glover all fight and pounded him.

Must be something wrong with Jones right, he threw maybe 10 rights all fight it seemed.

 

Yeah it was the first round.

When that happened I was thinking to myself Glover might not have the power after that move because it looked like Glover's arm really went at an unnatural angle.

I've never seen that before. I think it's an ancient(now illegal) Judo move, the closest thing I've ever seen was Aoki's move on Wisniewski.

 

Yeah he jerked it once and realised he had a nice grip on the arm so did it again with a lot more force.

 

He never throws right hands.

 

Jones messes up his legs and feet every time he fights...I wonder if that will catch up with him.

 

Thoughts from UFC 172

1) This just in, Jon Jones is pretty good. He made Glover look ordinary. If that was your first time every seeing Glover, you'd never guess he had just won 20 fights in a row and was known as a big puncher.

2) Great win for Rockhold. No one has manhandled Boetsch like they. If I'm the UFC, I give Belfort the ultimatum to rematch Rockhold in Vegas or get dropped by the organization.

3) If you didn't watch the FightPass prelims,, Google that shit. Chris Beal landed perhaps the best flying knee in MMA history.

4) Jim Miller is probably my favorite fighter in the UFC.

5) I predict Dan Henderson gets injured and Rumble Johnson fights Cormier. Joe Rogan: "Anthony Johnson is a murder". And you guys think he hyperbolizes. Silly.

Daniel Cormier Needs a LITMUS TEST Before Getting a Title Shot & Anthony Johnson is THAT Dude...

It's RARE that a Performance is Workmanlike AND Spectacular, but that's Exactly What Jon Jones Was Last Night...Texeira is VERY Heavy Handed and by his OWN Admission, Landed his BEST Shots on Jones...Nonetheless, Bones Moved Enough to CLEAR his Head & REENGAGED...If There were DOUBTS Before, it's Now Safe to Say Jon Jones is TOUGH & TAKES a Good Punch...

He OUTMUSCLED Texeira & Completely OWNED him from Close Range...REED Continues to Be Amazed by the DIVERSITY in Jones' Elbow Strikes Too...His Lead Left Elbow is like a Jabbing KNIFE...Basically, EVERY Part of Jones' Body is a WEAPON, Down to his Fingers & Shoulders...REED Didn't Know it was Legal to Do Shoulder Lunges Until Last Night...

Yeah, Jones Does the Finger Thing as a RANGE FINDER...Reminds REED of How Roy Jones Kept his Left Arm High & Extended...It's Unnerving & Distracting to an Opponent...

I loved that move by Jones. It shows that he is always looking to inflict damage rather than just score points. After Jones hyperextended Glover's arm, Glover looked at the ref like it was some illegal move.

 

Jones is a UNIQUE Blend of Athleticism, Skill, Heart, Finesse, Talent, Toughness & MALICE...He has NO Remorse Whatsoever, when Dropping Elbows, SLICING Guys Open, Ripping Arms like Texeira's or DROPPING Them in a Bloody, Unconcious Heap, as he Did Machida...

You Don't Often See Athletic, Finesse Fighters in BLOODY Fights...They're Rarely as Perpetually VIOLENT as Jon Jones is...

During the fight I was dumbfounded as to why Jones didn't stay on the outside and potshot Glover all night. He had success with it early and his front kicks to Glover's knees from distance looked extremely damaging. But I honestly think Jones isn't content unless he's doling out punishment and trying to end the fight.

All I know for certain is the dude is an absolute pleasure to watch. And at only 26 years old, he's probably still improving.

 

Would Definitely HELP his Wallet, but it Wouldn't Be Genuine...

Jones is a Nerdy, Thoughtful, SENSITIVE Dude...Unlike Rousey or the Diaz Brothers, Jones Really Does CARE what Others Think about Him...He'd BE as POOR @ Talking Shit as Phil Davis Proved to Be...

I think he's like LeBron in that he wants people to like him but struggles with being a hyper confident somewhat self centered black male with incredible talent which white people just find unfathomably repulsive.

LeBron at the later stages of his career got a lot better at PR, Jones can too.
