Hypothetically could Ronda just move back up to FW and Dana could just award her the first UFC FW title?
What impressed me about Holm was how well she did in grappling situations, she even got a takedown on Rousey. Ronda had no chance tonight
Remains to Be Seen How this IMPACTS Rousey's Marketability, Moving Forward... An Attractive, Potty Mouthed Chick, DOMINATING a Predominantly Male Sport was a Big Part of the Allure, but it ALL Revolved Around the PRESUMPTION of Invincibility Ronda, Fans and Media Had, in Regards to Her...If Rousey Wins the RE and Rubber Match, She'll STILL Be a Mainstream Star...But If She LOSES the RE, the Ride is Pretty Much OVER... & Based on the SEVERITY of the Ass Whipping She Took, It's HIGHLY Doubtful Ronda Can Overcome This...This is the Type of Loss that RUINS Fighters, Particularly Those as OUTWARDLY Confident as Rousey...All the Kings Horses and All the Kings Men COULDNT Put Humpty Dumpty, Mike Tyson OR Roy Jones Back Together Again... We'll See if Ronda Rousey's DIFFERENT... REED
Christ Almighty, what is it coming to when a talent-less hack like Rousey is being compared to Jones and Tyson?
Tyson lost when he took it for granted that he was the best and didn't train hard. RJJ lost when he got older and his speed and reflexes slowed just a little. This feels different. Ronda is in her prime, and she's been training hard. Holly was the better fighter tonight. It wasn't even close. I bought the PPV tonight, and I'll buy it again if there's a rematch. If Holly beats her again, Ronda is pretty much done as a top PPV draw in the UFC. Seeing a favorite fighter get destroyed like that sucks. It doesn't say anything about the sport itself. Real MMA fans are excited about Aldo / McGregor, Lawler / Condit, Weidman / Rockhold, Werdum / Velasquez, Jones / Cormier 2, and a million other fights. The sport is bigger than any one star.
MMA has athletes comparable to Jones and Tyson. Jon Jones today (or at least recently) is as good as Roy Jones Jr was in his prime. In terms of overall fighting, not boxing specifically. I've been saying Ronda's an elite fighter for years, since her first fight in Strikeforce. It's hard to believe she lost so badly. At this point in history, she has the best legacy in women's MMA. If she doesn't fight again she'll still be remembered as the greatest of all time in women's MMA. For a while.
That'll Be the Narrative for Sure, Moving Forward; NEW Trainer... "My Mom BEGGED Me to Do it for Awhile, I just Didn't Listen"..."I've Learned Soooooo Much (After Changing Trainers)"...But that Could All Be SURFACE Bullshit... Cutting Off the Ring, Head Movement, Parrying, Shortening her Own Shots, Bobbing and Weaving...There's a SHITLOAD of Nuances Ronda Needs to DRASTICALLY Improve Upon, to Have a Chance @ Winning a RE...& w/that Bout Likely to Take Place @ UFC 200, Next July, that Honestly DOESN'T Seem Like Enough Time... Beyond that, Rousey Will Need to Be Repaired PSYCHOLOGICALLY, Not to Mention REDEDICATING Herself to her Craft...Is She WILLING to Put the Movies, Interviews and Endorsements on Hold, to Lock Herself Away in Camp Looooooooooooooooong Enough to Make LEGITIMATE Changes to her Style???... REED
X is Trolling, but Dudes like TFK Troll the Boxing Section Every Soooooo Often Too, so It Should Be EXPECTED when a High Profile Fighter Like Rousey Gets Her Ass Whipped...Especially by an Accomplished BOXER... REED
I think Rousey retires. If she lost a decision, she probably would keep fighting but the brutality of that knockout is something she won't come back from. Anyone else find it comical that Edmund told Rousey that she did great in the first round?
Tonight Rousey reminded me of Cain Velaquez in the Werdum fight mindlessly pushing forward against a superior striker.
If Ronda had focused on her strengths and gone 100% for the clinch / takedown, she might have won tonight. Standing and trading with an elite boxer was a mistake. I'm not really a GSP fan at all. When he got knocked out by Matt Serra, he changed his style to focus on his strengths. He went on to dominate his weight class for years by focusing on the aspects of fighting where he knew was better than his opponent. He'd outbox guys like Koscheck and Shields, and he'd outwrestle superior boxers like Diaz. I'm not saying that will happen, it's just possible.
Or Maybe He was Trying to Give her (False) Confidence??...The LOOK On Ronda's Face, between Rounds, was Something REED's NEVER Seen from...Probably Likewise for Edmond... REED
@ the VERY Least, She'll Do a RE w/Holm...Toooooooooo Much Money and Anticipation For it NOT to Happen...REED Doubts Ronda Could Live w/Herself w/Out @ Least TRYING to Redeem the Loss... But if Ronda LOSES the RE w/Holm, Yeah, Stick a Fork In Her... REED
I didn't rewatch the first round. Did anyone else see Rousey stun Holm with a punch? Holm immediately clinched up right after.
i watched a real fighter on shobox. sergei derevyachenko. this side show was amusing to watch a highlight of
rousey should definitely not take an immediate rematch. it is a bad idea, mentally, in real sports, such as #boxing
Nah man. Ronda is a yes woman. Needs to be told yes or she ain't happy. Edmond relied on her judo so much, he felt it could get her out of any danger his false boxing hype put her in
Rousey was really exposed in striking tonight. Notice how Holm was walking her into those left hands over and over in the second round, and Rousey had no adjustments and kept eating them. Showed heart to do that, but to plod after Holm relentlessly, circling right into Holm's left and eating lead left after lead left showed that her and her trainers know nothing about boxing footwork. Also showed she had zero idea how to handle a southpaw. It was a masterclass in having no fucking idea. Props to Holm for knowing exactly how to position Rousey, nice work.
Holm looks like a silverback in this picture. Huge shoulders and Rousey looked more flabby than usual. I wonder if she had a bad camp. I didn't see the fight yet, anybody got a working link? The one thing that sprung to mind is how unintimidated Holm was by Rousey. She always seemed so nervous jumping up and down in all her previous fights against no names that I thought she would melt like a snowflake in hell under the pressure of this whole promotion. I am really impressed she didn't at all.
Especially with that clown Joe Rogan introducing the fighters. But it I think that's a big part of the appeal to the younger crowd. Plus the fights are short.
Mike Tyson came back together again...it's just that Holyfield shattered that egg again and this time..permanently.
Wasn't Joe Rogan saying something recently to the effect of "People often used the phrase 'you wont see anything again like it in our lifetime' well with Rousey you wont see anything like her again EVER!" UFC Hyperbole at it's best.
