I'm picking Conor in a big upset win. I don't care about the Vegas odds. It will be a huge upset if Conor defeats Aldo, one of the greatest P4P champions of all time. This will be the end of an era, the changing of the guard. Or it will be one more title defense for Aldo.

McGregor tries way too hard. He used to be funny but now it seems all manufactured. Probably due to immaturity and once he settled on with all the celebrity, he will be fine.

Still, he's on a real roll right now and I think he will beat Aldo.

this. He's similar to Sonnen, in the sense that he was funny at the beginning, but then turned into a caricature of himself that only appealed to kids and immature losers.

None of you know shit about selling a fight. If the left it up Aldo to ssell this fight it would have 100k ppv buys. Because of Conor, it will break over a million

Lol, I know why he does it, hence the manufactured comment, it's not like it's some kind of revolutionary tactics to sell a fight that only marketing guru such as you understand. Still, it doesn't mean I have to like it

It may not be revolutionary, but not everyone can do it. It takes a skill to think on your feet that fast and basically control every room you are in. At the go big conference where he basically told every fighter to their face to kiss his ass was beautiful imo. And it's why he will be the highest paid fighter if he beats Aldo.

As i said, it hypes up kids and immature persons. No wonder you like it. That these contrived tough guy act a la Roussey and mcgregor works at creating hype, only shows the sad intellectual state of the average man

again, his talking has made him the biggest star in mma. Rousey "act" generated more interest than anything in combat sports in the past 5 years. Hell, people I thought were dead came back here to talk about it. So you can mock the fighters and mock the fans, but your interest in this fight is because of Conor. And you can bullshit all you want be everyone knows it's true

Btw, nothing funnier than someone slamming someone's shtick and then turns around and calls himself above average

They're is also the factor that Connor is the UFC version of Naseem Hamed whereby bravado, public-interest, PPV sales, revenue and prize-money doesn't equate to being 'great' at all.

Too early to call him the hamed of the sport. If he beats Jose, that label certainly won't apply

Probably not...but if gets the less-than-casual watcher of UFC / MMA taking interest then it's good for sport overall.

No. I've been following MMA for more than the last 10 years. It,s not like it's the first time I post in this forum section. The reason I want to see the fight is because Mcgregor proved he's for real by destroying Mendes. His lame contrived shtick has nothing to do with it. It's all fine and dandy if you get excited by these WWE promos, but I ain't. .

So clearly he appeals to you then correct? See no where did i say the reason I like McGregor is because of his talking. While i do enjoy trash talk, i enjoy his fighting even more. All i said is that he does it to sell fights. And you reply by calling me immature and having a Sad Intellectual state. So you can go ahead and insult people you "think" are beneath you, but the fact is that McGregor is doing what he needs to do in order to be the biggest and highest paid star in MMA and it has worked. And while those who simply rely on their skills and dont promote, like Aldo, have made chump change in Comparison. Clowning a man's hustle that has gotten the success McGreger has is laughable to me.

Consider who you're talking to dude. There is nothing average or immature about McGregor's pointed verbosity. There is a definitive skill and art to what McGregor says and how quickly he comes up with it.

The idiot is the person that puts McGregor's effective war of words in the same bucket with Chael's verbal diarrhea. Sonnen had funny moments but was typically full of shit.

To me, Sonnen was WWE while McGregor uses his mouth like Ali did. There's a huge difference.

Sonnen was an effective troll, but to me, his trolling was planned days in advance. McGreger doesnt plan. He just walks in and spews what is on his mind. The Go Big Conference and The Ultimate fighter is perfect scenarios.

And it's not like McGreger feels he is being mean either. I mean he can lay it into Faber and they both laugh about it together, but Connor genuinely believes what he is saying.

Difference is, someone like Fury does it to Wlad (sparingly, I might add) and its funny. You can see what he's trying to do.

McGregor's clearly got a chip on his shoulder (like all Irish have, I might add) and goes about things with a deeply sinister fashion.
And to be honest, after the first 2 minutes that video got boring.

For the record, I don't have any affiliation to Brazlians: I don't care who wins.
Other than it gets as close as Jules Winfield's: "if you like burgers give 'em a try sometime. I can't usually get 'em myself because my girlfriend's a vegetarian which pretty much makes me a vegetarian"

    Yeah?

:laugh11: Jesus, Aldo's received shit loads of stick from McGregor! You'd think all the insults and taunting would drain him in some sort of way. McGregor really is nuts, but I love his style  Some classic quotes there from the Irishman.

i like mcgregor's style of fighting, but he's obviously got some holes in his game. he's not at the level of jon jones or demtrius johnson where their defense also plays a huge factor. for someone who talks a whole lot of shit, he's not as good as he says he is imo.

i'm still leaning towards him beating aldo, but if he ever moves up, i can see him losing to guys like pettis, dos anjos, and cerrone. if benson was still competing at light weight, i'd also see him giving a ton of trouble with footwork and clinch work.
