Hahaha, this is a really bad post. You try to keep things in perspective and then compare an 8 lb increase to a 25 lb increase, a weight increase that is even more magnified because of the small gloves.

If Floyd had fought Canelo at supermid, then we'd be getting a lot closer.

Seeing Holm get choked unconscious was extremely unpleasant.

That's because you're (as usual) oblivious to the big picture and get bamboozled by meaningless statistics. Diaz fought Jonhson at 156 lbs just 3 months ago, he ain't no ww. That's just 11 lbs of featherweight ( a weight I doubt McGregor will ever be able to make anymore). And Connor is far bigger fw than Floyd was a ww. As I said before, McGregor deserves credit for not making Diaz weight drain himself to make lw at short notice, but let's not pretend he fought a ww, he fought a big lw. I'd wager that the fight night weight difference was bigger for Floyd-Canelo (probaby in the neighborhood of 20 lbs) than it was for McGregor-Diaz

While I don't necesseraly disagree, that's something most causual fans won't take into consideration imo. They saw him lost (badly) and that's all they remember and care for in the short term

Nate Diaz now has 9 submission wins in the UFC. He passed Frank Mir last night to move into second place of all time. Royce Gracie has the record with 10 submissions in the UFC.

Nate would have the record now if they counted his victories on The Ultimate Fighter.

Ridiculous how the narrative is now that Diaz is a Welterweight. THe only reason the fight was at 170 is because Diaz didn't had the time to lose the weight and have a proper training camp. THis was far from an advantage for Diaz

I agree with this. These are the same fans that had no doubt in their mind that Conor could beat Nate and potentially beat Lawler. They are not considering weight.

For the casual fan, the loud mouthed Conor was exposed last night and they don't factor in the weight. His draw will be significantly reduced because of that.

And let's be honest, despite the weight jump, we did learn some negative things about Conor's game. He didn't show much resolve once the momentum shifted. He had no plan B when Diaz didn't go away. And he was completely clueless in the scrambles with Nate.

Personally I don't think he'll ever win another fight at 145 pounds. McGregor kills himself to get to 145. Going all the way back down will be tough. And I think the UFC will give Edgar the next shot, which is a horrible match up for McGregor. I think Edgar wrestles the belt away and Conor moves to 155.

The 11 days can be used as an excuse for not being prepared for Diaz' boxing and maybe the ground game but his gas tank didn't look good for 5 rounds and had that been RDA he would have probably exploited that. Conor at least had a full camp and didn't even have to cut weight, how he was gassed so early is beyond me.

It's really easy to explain. He was throwing nothing but bombs. He missed a ton of shots. Believe or not, Nate landed some great body shots. But most importantly, in my opinion, Conor is a tense striker. Despite his "light and flowy" training moniker, he isn't nearly as relaxed a striker as Nate Diaz.

He was also carrying around a lot more weight, burning more energy in the process.

REED Could Be Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Offbase Here, but he Thinks Conor Needs American Training...Not TRAINER, but Training...

From what REED Can Gather, Conor's THE Best Guy in his Camp & REED Can't Think of Even 1 Other NAME MMAist, from his Stable...MMA is a "Team" Sport in the Sense that the Vast Majority of its Elite Practitioners Train @ a Well Known Gym, Sharing Company w/a Laundry List of High Level Fighters...Bones Jones, Holly Holm, Jon Dodson and Many Others at Jackson-Winkeljohn...Rashad Evans, Anthony Johnson and Others with Blackzilians, Team Alpha Male, GSP and Rory McDonald's Squad in Canada, etc...

For McGregor's Game to EVOLVE, he's Gotta Surround Himself w/BETTER Training Partners, in REED's Opinion...

As he was Dealing w/Diaz's Size Advantage, McGregor was Also Dealing w/Carrying His OWN Extra Weight (Mostly Muscle)...

no doubt - as seen with Ronda although I think Gunnar Nelson was in his camp so it can't be that bad.

does that outweigh the not making the cut? He didn't look like an out of shape welter really... I mean Robbie Lawler can go 5 rounds and weighs even more.

I get it that McGregor losing is bigger news but no one here wants to talk about Holly Holm getting choked to sleep?

On ANY Other Night, it's the Lead Story...

But w/McGregor ALSO Losing by Choke, it Gets Buried...REED's Been Critical of UFC's Decision to ALLOW a Fighter of McGregor's Magnitude (from a Marketing POV) to Be Placed in a Topsy Turvy, Spur of the Moment Set of Circumstances, but the Shit was Fascinating as HELL to Watch...

REED Doesn't Know that he's EVER Seen 2 "House" Fighters Get Stopped on the SAME Card, in Such High Profile Fights...

That was sad to see. She had the perfect style and fought the perfect fight to beat Ronda. Beating Ronda didn't make her the same kind of dominant champion.

Bullshit. Tate-Holm was a highly skilled and technical MMA fight. Every aspect of the sport was on display and at a high level.

I know some people just don't care to see chicks beat the hell out if each other but don't try to diminish their skill level.

If you think this was high level, you haven't seen much MMA. Holm was clueless on the ground, and even her striking was very basic. She mostly was only throwing the lead left hand, followed by a right hook once and a while, and the odd kick. Her head movement was almost non-existant. I know some people want to paint these girls as higly skilled athletes, but objectively, the skill level is very low.

Word. Apparently there's some major women's fitbaw tournament on right now too - who cares? They'd all get creamed by a good boys under 13 side

Wow. I was going by the Tate from the fight. She was looking all boodonkadonk during the match. Must have been padding. She still wins though thanks to her tata's.

McGregor's 'dominating ' weight is 145. It's clear at just 155 he will be just 'competitive' - no more, no less.
The MMA industry and media are simply killing themselves to spin that he fought a 'bigger' guy - let's agree on 'taller' - to maintain the hype.
For sure, the guy and his rise has been brilliant for UFC / MMA, but he also began growing a nasty brand of promotional narcissism. And, in turn, an increasing total dismissal of major MMA and other top sports stars showed the guy was losing the ego-plot.
Even now he's all over Instagram selling the story that he's a Featherweight who went up too much - so the 'humility' clearly has limits...
