Another under-rated Favreau flick --- Made. Vince Vaughn gives his most cringingly-hilarious performance in all his career, IMO. He was a sensation in this, but you never see it mentioned.

With Chris O'Donnel and Gene Hackman. Excellent movie, never gets mentioned.

Embarrassed I forgot it. I have both the film & the soundtrack. Very under-rated film & a lot of fun, for sure.

"It's not me! Why does everyone think it's personal!?"

    LOL.

The King of Comedy was a very well-made dark comedy, and satire on celebrity culture. Robert De Niro was brilliant in it.

I suppose it isn't underrated now, at least in terms of critics, but it wasn't well-received at the time, and still remains one of the lesser discussed and appreciated De Niro/Scorsese collaborations.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the Johnny Depp flick Secret Window was a very good movie that is rarely mentioned.

Very Bad Things. I loved this movie, which was roundly-panned upon its release. Cameron Diaz was terrifically maniacal, & Christian Slater absolutely stole the show. I thought it was beuatifully funny, but it's very dark & sinister humour & not everyone's taste.

You, Me & Dupree was good, not great, but it got destroyed by the critics unfairly, IMO.

Head Above Water was a fantastically bitter comedy which doesn't get its due.

I was actually watching clips from it last night. Did you know it was a box office bomb? Robin Williams also got nominated for a Razzie for Worst Actor, which surprised me because I thought his acting was great in it.

Williams, I agree, was quite funny in this. The film actually missed out on a cinematic release in Australia altogether.

Good one! Well, its not overrated ALL TIME considering it won best picture, but its certainly forgotten today.

I'd say its a top 10-15 all time movie.

Never understood why people don't rave about this film. It's EXCELLENT. Highly entertaining. Good acting. Great Cast.

    Crimson Tide

Now people do generally admit that it was a great film..but my question is:

Why did the academy ignore it altogether?

It should have won (let alone at least been nominated for):

    Best picture
    Best Director
    Best Actor
    Best Supporting Actor
    Best original screenplay
    Best Score
    Best sound editting

    That film was THE SHIT!!!

Man in The Iron Mask was a good movie, but nothing special. Its not very rewatchable IMO. The Count of Monte Cristo was much better than MITIM, and has much higher rewatchability.

I do agree with you about Crimson Tide though 100%. Its a crime that it wasnt nominated for best picture.

Its also a crime that Denzel wasnt nominated for best actor, and Gene Hackman wasnt nominated for best supporting actor.

Man in the Iron Mask is one of the very few Leonardo movies that I didn't really care for.

Crimson Tide was a very good movie, but it wasn't robbed of Best Picture. 1995 was a HUGE year for movies with Heat, Se7en, The Usual Suspects, Braveheart, Toy Story, Casino, Apollo 13, Dead Presidents, and 12 Monkeys.

An underrated movie from 1995 AND an underrated Leonardo movie is Basketball Diaries.
