    Agreed. Good catch.

    Another underrated movie:

The Edge. With Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. Very good movie, and virtually unknown for some reason.

    A Soldier's Story.

Adolf Ceasar's performance was great and it was nice seeing a young Denzel

It was Justin Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel :hump: and yes, that was an awful movie. I couldn't finish watching it.

Demolition Man is underrated. I consider it one of Stallone's best films ever and a classic science fiction film. It put Sandra Bullock in the map before she became a superstar with 'Speed'. The cultural clash of the Rip Van Winkle-like John Spartan (Stallone) with the future society rules & mentality was plain brilliant and very funny. The action is great and Wesley Snipes did a memorable job as the villain Simon Phoenix.

Why do people hate on Avatar? And, if Avatar wasn't rewatchable it would have made so much money on the DVD/blu ray release.

Avatar is a great film. It may not have the acting or dialogue of Godfather, but it's great in different ways and not just the special effects ( although that contributes). The plot, the action, the drama and the way the narrative flows is outstanding. You feel for the indigenous you hate the "sky people". When Jake Sully shows up on Toruk, that's just pure class in filmmaking. James Caneron did a phenomenal job with that film and all you movie snobs can go to hell

It's silly to simplify it like that. Very few films are completely original. For example you like " The Core" as I do. One could say that the Core is Armageddon but under the ground.

Many films following similar models to others in the past. So what?

Secondly you are probably one of those people that missed the forest for the trees ( literally in this case). You probably just saw special effects and mias d the entire magic of the story.

There's NO CHARACTER in Avatar that's memorable or has any depth to them. Not ONE! Not a SINGLE FUCKING THING compelling about ANY character in Avatar.

It's a shit movie. Visually very impressive, but save for that, nada!

The overt political messaging is the only reason why it didn't win best picture.

You CONSERVATIVE church loving, faggot hating motherfuckers have to make up your minds....IS HOLLYWOOD lead by a LIBERAL agenda...and anti-conservatism/atheist jew bastards....OR Pro-conservatives(don't allow a movie like Avatar that shows the rich/powerful PEOPLE invading a sovereign planet and taking from the indigenous)

Your rebuke is appropriate. I think Hollywood has a liberal agenda but I think an overtly political message in a film is frowned upon even if that message is anti-conservative. In this case the message wasn't just attacking conservatism but it was attacking US foreign policy and liberal or not the Academy is American and will frown upon attacking the foreign policy of 'murica.

Only reason "Avatar" didn't win Best Picture was because Cameron's ex-wife was able to make a film that was about 100 times more compelling with 1% of the budget.

100 times more compelling? Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed The Hurt Locker but everyone has forgotten about that film yet no one has forgotten Avatar.

Everyone has forgotten Avatar. Know why? Cause there's N A D A that's memorable about it. Name ONE scene or ONE character that will always resonate with people? There are none.

Well, then put it in the "under-rated" film category. I'd watch "Hurt Locker" 10 times in a row, before sitting through "Avatar" again.

Don't get me wrong, I liked it the very first time I saw it...but take away the 3D glasses and giant IMAX screen, and it's silly cotton candy. Haven't been able to even come close to sitting through an entire showing again.

Time has not treated "Avatar" well since it's been released. It's only been 6 years, and already it feels dated.

Shit, I'd sit through the first half of "Titanic" twice, before trying to watch "Avatar" again.

The badass villain with the scars on his head is memorable and Neteri ( Zoe Saldana) is a memorable character. But besides that, the world created is superb as is the action sequences and the general plot and message. Phenomenal film. I feel sad for you that you've missed the beauty of it.

Titanic is WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY better than Avatar. Not even close.

Titanic has actual memorable characters. Leo, Kate Winslett, and Billy Zane all created compelling characters, on top of the 2nd half of the movie which is fun to watch.

    Avatar is SHIT!

I can't continue the Avatar conversation in the face of such ignorance. Waste of time. If you think it's shit, good for you. Lol

I hate to say it, but they're actually right. I hated Avatar from the start while I was sitting in the theater watching it. The only memorable scene I liked was when he jumped on the big red flying creatures back and the line he said while doing it. Other than that I've never been able to rewatch that film at all.

I didn't like the Hurt Locker the first time I saw it either, but as it started to come on tv and I saw more and more scenes I liked it more and more and now I can watch it any time I comes on tv, and I've seen it several times. Same thing with the Titanic. I hate the overrall film but if you catch it right at the end when the sinking starts and you bypass all the pointless romance it is a very rewatchable film. I always seemed to catch it at the point when the ship is sinking and all the destruction and death occurs which is very entertaining stuff, unlike Avatar. Every time Avatar comes on I feel a level of hate I can't even write about and I just change it.
