To be honest he did say he would do it if needed so I don't think his answer was bad at all or a reflection of a duck job. I feel Benavidez is Canelo biggest threat at 168 and his team are definitely not interested in that high risk low reward fight imo. Still, Benavidez needs to start fighting higher caliber of opponents and build his own brand. Lemieux is a step in the right direction but far from one of the top guys.
Is lemieux really a step in the right direction? His only good wins were rosado and ndam, a century ago, and he looked inept against GGG and Saunders. Not to mention that he got floored numerously and needed friendly judges to get.past a.journeyman in his only fight.at.168
Lemieux has a name at least. A W over him carries a lot more weight than the obscure fighters Benavidez been feasting on.
Lol it's been so many years since I watched the fight but I was impressed just forgot it was Rubio that impressed me.
Saw this before, somebody had screengrabbed Usyks facial expressions. Usyk batters him today, of course.
I always despised Clemente Russo, for the record. Cammarrele was a real fighter. Russo was a horrible sod.
My God that is some fucking bad commentary. There are at least 10 guys on this site who could do far better than that. "The key is not to punch your opponent. The key is to punch THRU your opponent like you are punching through a brick wall". Burrturrbeeeev
Remember Kofi Jantuah? He'd make a bit of noise today. He popped into my head when I saw the name Rubio. He hit Rubio so hard parts of his Azucar Moreno fell off and he looked like Caleb Plant.
canelo didn't hesitate to fight chavez jr. so if he says he doesn't want to fight benavidez because he is mexican, it sounds like a lame excuse.
