Even if Marquez beats Valero he would take alot of punishment.

marquez is quite hittable these days and got shook on a few occasions by light punching diaz. i think valero would beat him down.

exactly, I think Marquez is better than Valero, but is getting hit too much nowadays, and Valero could spell doom for his career at this stage.

Yes...Marquez has become very hittable...but so is Valero..and who knows how much punishment he can/is willing to take...

in Valero vs. Marquez....Valero will be going from High School football to playing in the NFL...

Marquez has face a better version of Valero..twice...while Valero hasn't face anyone close to Marquez level...MAYBE Marquez will end up being to Valero what MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA WAS FOR MANNY PACQUIAO.....doubt it though...

What, a P4P at his absolute peak, yet was wiped out and embarrassed? Marquez is going to be that, huh?

Who cares if he looks amateurish? I seem to recall the same being said about Manny Pacquiao not too long ago, look how he ended up.

As long as you keep beating the hell out of everybody that's put in front of you, then that's all that matters.

People said that RJJ looked like an amatuer. He looked like a pro too me hitting his opponents to the face and the body whenever he felt like it. Same shit with Valero.

    .....Pacquaio and Jones comparisons :notallthere:

Pacquaio made remarkable improvement...we can't just assume Valero is gonna be twice the fighter he is now in a couple of years time

at the moment, the guys are curling into little balls after they have tasted his power (which i agree is special, he was backing away from the punch he threw for that first knock down)...... Someone who can make him miss and have the balls to counter, will punish him over and over again

No the big name fighter needed to propel his career to another level.... and MAB was P4P..but he wasn't in his absolute peak/prime...

Highest ranking ever acheived, undefeated since forever, biggest wins of his career in the previous couple of years. I'd say he was right at his best and the facts help support that.

Undefeated, at least on his ledger, for a while...but the Morales rematch decision wasn't convincing, and the way fought in the early rounds was not something unique to that fight, at that point in his career.

Barrera was on the seniors tour after that rematch, and thought he was getting an undersized opponent, just like DLH did....too bad.

I don't think Marquez will underestimate Valero, which is why I don't think the fight will happen.

I've never been high on Valero, but I admit he looked better than usual in this fight.

I think he is better at 135 lbs. He looked less amateurish, but also less sluggish.

Still, he'd get schooled by Marquez, and a brutal shitkicking from Pacquiao.

Few guys in history have legitmate murderous power. Edwin Valero is such a talent. Say what you will about his lack of traditional skills, but you could say the same for Pacquiao coming up and others. Valero got his name from beating up on Morales...when that mattered...so whose to say he doesn't have solid skills that are masked by his approach.

What can't be denied is that kind of power. How many guys have made it out of the first round?...How many people have avoided his "amateur attack" to the point of staying off the canvas in the first 3 minutes.

I've been high on him for awhile, and every time he fights I become more and more sure he's the real deal

Now wait a minute..if you sincerely feel that strongly that this man is a good fighter, where were you last night?

I mean, where is your input into this pugs camp, or what can you do to make him a better fighter in person, I mean be there to work with him?

Since you threw down the specifics and a challenge, all I am doing is asking what are you going to do in regards to having first hand input into this millers training camp, particularly involving the selection and handling of sparring partners?

I can't wait until Marquez KO's Valero in 3 rounds, and guys like joony will have that "oh shit, I'm stupid" look on their face like they have the past 5 or 6 super fights.

at this stage, no, saying that would be ridiculous.

Saying you'd like to see Valero in against a top guy just to see the result is legit. though.

No. Even before I was a true Pacman believer (ie when I thought he'd get whupped by Morales and Barrera) - I could still see he was far sharper and more skilled than Valero. He was nowhere near as polished as he is now, but he was still 10 times more polished than Valero.

And Joony - calm down. Beating Pitalua hardly makes Valero "the man"

I agree. He'd probably pick Edwina over Pacquiao too.

Yeah, I wouldn't pick Valero over Marquez, but I would love to see it. And I do believe JMM would have to survive some pretty nasty bombs to win.

yeah, pretty much how i see it....Valero may get a fast start, but once Marquez gets into his groove, he'll take Valero to school......regardless of my criticisms, the guy clearly has ridiculous power and so has to be considered a threat to anyone

joony says a lot of stupid shit. He also picked Diaz over Marquez too.

I think Marquez sucks a lot of cock in his private life, but he's a good fighter and would annihilate Valero right now.

But there really is no substitute for the kind of power that changes fights. Valero's winged Southpaw attack helps him I think. He still finds a way to get good punches to find their way home.

I love everything about Valero.....apart from the fact he can't box for shit!:crying: But hey, power, genuine aggression & cool old school 70's latino hair is enough to make him one of the best guys to watch in the sport, ATM.
