im starting to lose all respect for big karl.

    "stated to everyone at ringside"

maybe you shouldve gone in there and showed him how it was done.

valero could have a stroke and knock you out in the first round... today, tomorrow, or in your prime.

how can a guy with ZERO professional fights bash 25 professionals (including a world champion) saying they got knocked out because they werent good.

    cmon now

so you've picked all of 1 lighweight over the guy. david diaz would get his head knocked off against valero. he IS NOT a good fighter. pitalua beat the one decent lightweight diaz beat and it didn't take him getting his ass kicked for 11 rounds to do it.

Yeah, the "PROBABLY beat David Diaz" seemed a bit strained.

David Diaz is a bum. Buy hey some people also think Ali Funeka´s temples will hold up against Valero´s power.

Not intelligent enough to stay out of the way of Prescott, Limond or Gomez. :dunno:

Just 3 fighters who would beat Valero at 135. Notice they aren't 400 years old either (though Marquez is getting close).

    Funeka.

How about Antillon, Peterson, and DeMarco?

    Those are his contenders.

antillon has gotten better since valero was knocking him silly in the gym a few years back. that seems like a hard mental block to overcome.

the cock gazer mentioned guzman:lol: that guy is no longer a lightweight.

as for juan diaz, we'll see if savannah cares as much for diaz as he professes. if he does, he won't put him in with valero.

Neil - David Diaz isn't particularly good. But he is tough and determined, it wouldn't shock me if he beat Valero. I'd probably pick Edwina over him like I said, but he wouldn't smash him with ease like Pacman did, it would be a close fight.

As for Juan Diaz I'm not sure. Depends how Valero reacts to pressure. Diaz is a solid enough fighter, I could see him beating Valero clearly, but the thing with Diaz is he gets discouraged, and when the going gets tough, or he gets cut or hurt, he folds.

I just don't think Valero is that great, we'll see. He is Freitas part two.

I don't think he's "great", either, but I think he'd handle David Diaz.

I don't think Freitas beat anyone as good as Mosquera when he was building his undefeated record and knocking everyone out.

Anyone who refers to Valero as ungainly must concede that Monzon was ungainly as well. I think the so-called "ungainly" manner in which Valero fights is what makes him special. That, his two handed power and his south-paw stance.

For anyone who hasn't already, watch Valero's fight with Mosquera to see that he's not just a front runner who's been fed 25 softies. Also, keep replaying that perfectly timed and perfectly placed right hook that he put Pitula down with.

When Pacquiao had just 24 fights on his ledger he had a few losses already and didn't know what a right hook was. Keep that in mind too. Valero can improve if and when he needs to.

He is Freitas part two except worse. At least popo could box when he needed. Valero can't even box, he likes to wing punches with his chin in the air.

Imagine Valero coming in like that against a prime Corrales.

Heck I think Corrales now would still beat Valero.

curious jolex would get destroyed immediately by the 25th best guy valero has defeated. not that he'd have the huevos to challenge that fellow, even after a six pack of mike's hard liquid courage.

for all the talk of how weak his opposition has been (i agree it hasn't been good), he has managed to quickly destroy a handful of chaps with proven world class durability.

He changed trainers since the Prescott fight, and don't get me wrong, I think THAT Khan gets smashed by Valero, no doubt. However, I think the improvement under Roach, has, and will be proven to be, immense. People can scoff all they like, after all it has been a whole two fights since he was used as a mop by Prescott, and they are certainly entitled to their opinion, all I'm saying is I have alot of faith in him and I think he will prove alot of people wrong in the near future. He is more naturally talented than Valero imo

I am going to give credit where credit is due:

    Valero is a BRUTE.

He is the biggest lightweight I can recall seeing.

Valero is the hardest hitting lightweight on the planet, and probably the strongest as well, and he looks like a very well-conditioned fighter, and he obviously does his homework in the gym and on the road.

But: he has very little boxing skill, zero defensive skill, and as I pointed out before, a lot of his repertoire is probably self taught.

Karl are you kidding? He doesn't look like a big lightweight at all. He is only 5'6, and not even that built.

Chico and Castillo would have absolutely dwarfed him at lightweight.

Pacman is bigger too. Similar height, but far more built. I always thought Edwina looked like an average sized 130 pounder.

I have spent time with Manny bro, Valero is bigger than him.

Valero is all muscle and punching ligament, truth be told.

You have to see the guy in person in a fight to know what I'm talking about as he appears as solid as a rock.

You guys might get to see Valero fight JMM after all. Word is Arum told JMM that the road to Pacquaio goes through Valero. In other words he wants those 2 to fight and the winner to get Pacquaio.

On the other hand I can't even remember all the fights Arum said would happen that never did.
