They didn't have a gold medalist in 2008. They only had 2 in 2012.

Diosbelys Hurtado defected first. I know that he was referred to as an amateur world champion all the time, but just looking now it doesn't appear that he ever was. Wtf is up with that?

You guys know I can't spell. I edit so much shit that when I post I do not want to edit. Thanks Panchy.

Why does Noble hate Cuban fighters so much? was he abused in a cigar shop as a youth?

Didn't Hurtado come over with Giorbis Barthelemy? I think they were fighting on a lot of the same cards in Miami.

I'm still trying to figure out wtf is going on with Diosbelys Hurtado always being referred to as an amateur world champion.
I have him losing in the semis of the world junior amateur championships in 1990 here: http://amateur-boxing.strefa.pl/Championships/WorldJuniorChamps1990.html

As I was digging around, it looks like Barthelemy began fighting in 1994 before Hurtado defected in October or November of 1994.

Hurtado had a weird career... Strangely effective fighter but always vulnerable

hurtado had a shitty career. dont know what was effective about it at all. other than his fluke victory over 3 time champ randall bailey he never beat anyone worth a damn

he gave two top fighters a great deal of trouble... he was effective in that regard, I don't see how that can be denied... He was just too vulnerable to beat those same guys... that's not inconsistent with what I said... I didn't say he was "good"

Even though Sweet Pea was past it, I still remember how shocked I was with how much he was struggling with Hurtado and that finish was just brutal.

Sure, but it would take him 45 minutes to do it. He would just stare at it until it melted while pretending to eat it over and over again. When it finally melted, Groanieaux would slop it up with a biscuit and feed it to an over-privileged hedge fund managers kid.

Hardcore cooking aficionados would declare him a culinary genius, but nobody would want to actually eat his food, and the Food Network would cancel his show after the first episode, when they found out the 6 people who were actually watching it, all died horrible deaths by falling asleep in puddles of melted butter and drowning in it.

Official cause of death: Cuban dairy asphyxiation syndrome............better known as "Death by Rigondull"

    May they rest in peace.

The poster known as "Nobleart" is not a fan of Guillermo Rigondeaux. Rigondeaux is Cuban.
