It could very well be. Dawson passion and heart has alway's been questionnable. in either case, Dawson only has himself to blame for aggreing to go down to 168. If he had shown more passion and his fights would have been more fun, he'd have more leverage at the negotiation table
I think Ward is very clearly the 2nd best fighter 168 has ever seen. He'd have kicked the Welshman's ass.
I just wished Dawson would have said No excuses. Andre Ward is the best fighter i have ever fought. He is the best fighter in boxing. I am going to move back up to 175 and hope Ward stays at 168 for a while. I would like to train with Ward to better myself. I would love for a fighter to say something like this after a beating like this.
Alright, Chad lacks heart? You happy? He's STILL a better fighter than Ortiz though. Chad would not lose to a fighter as limited as Maidana/Lopez.
If Ward wants his opponents not giving excuses ( just like Froch has ), he shouldn't put them in a dead end at the negotiating table.
By the way, big career mistake for Dawson. He should have stayed at 175 and gone on a run. Regardless of the weight, this will be a blow to his confidence, and he will be less effective at Light Heavy. He should have just locked down 175 until Ward was ready to come up.
He lost to Pascal, it's not exactly a stretch to think he'd lose to someone like Maidana or Lopez. They are a similar class of fighter, the difference is Ortiz fights pretty hard before he decides he doesn't deserve to take any more punches, and quits. The funny thing is, I am usually very surprised when a fighter quits. I wasn't surprised when Doorson quit. It's not like I expected it, but he has no soul, passion or fire - quitting suits him pretty well.
I'm not so sure about that one but I do agree about Ward's greatness. Joe Calzaghe, like him or not, is a lso a great fighter and has the style to beat Ward.
Wasn't it Doorson's idea/choice to come down to 168 and challenge Ward? I don't think he bullied poor wee bunty Doorson into fighting at 168.
BTW, while I despise when a ref stops a fight quickly in the 1st round ( as the fighter are still fresh and the risk for an serious injurie are minimal ), I can't argue too much about the stoppage in Demarco - Molina. Unless the standing 8 count rule was in effect, the ref basically had no other choice as Molina basically balled up

On a side note, Nick Cannon nearly ruined the night. He introduced Andre Ward, the champion, first, and then called Chad Dawson the "lightweight heavyweight champion"

Based on him beating Sad Chad? Newsflash: Joe would have beat up "Gangsters Don't Quit" Dawson too
Chad Dawson might just be one of the biggest wastes of talent I have ever seen. That boy just does not like fighting. MTF
Dawson struggled due to indecisiveness and a failure to throw punches you say? Shocks like this are what keeps the sport so exciting ::
