Ward is far better than I gave him credit for... he fought an excellent fight. I shall keep a closer eye on Andre Ward.. As much as I like Froch and he did seem 'slower' than his usual self I don't think he can beat Ward in a re-match.
Pound for pound? Frochs PfP claims are based largely on the win over Pascal, who went on to beat Dawson. But Pascal lost, probably twice, to Hopkins. Historic.

I was fine with the overall tournament, at least in terms of getting the best to face each other. What I meant in my comparison, is that it took so long that I was anxious for it to just end. Similar to last night's fight, which was absolutely necessary, but not a particularly memorable fight beyond what was at stake. but that's what I meant - that the fight wasn't memorable, not the tournament. Where the tournament went wrong was including three American "promoters" whose mentality is always take the money and run. Goossen, Shaw, DiBella, none of them give a shit about selling tickets, just getting their network welfare check. The tournament should've taken place in Europe and Canada, as evidenced by last night's papered house and fictional attendance number.
Yeah I can't disagree, maybe if Ward can drop the Jesus Piece routine and stop putting his elbow behind his jab he'll draw in more fans.

Agreed about the tv packagers/promoters who didnt give a shit about the promoting aspect. However, if Ward was promoted by a real American promoter like Arum, say, would this even have happened? I'd guess he'd be fighting the same leftovers Bute fought or even worse...
Why was Ward gassed? Also, {not at you} I've been doing a bit of non-FB reading, some of the comments about Frochs missus betray a crude side to some aspects of Wards fandom.

It's interesting to wonder what kind of fighter it will be who manages to beat Ward. He'll have to be skilled, but he'll also need to be strong and offensive. A 168 pound Lupe Pintor may what's needed. Ward will likely be champ for a while.
I don't think Bute gives him much of a fight to be honest. Bute is OK, but nothing special. Ward is faster, more skilled, and craftier in the ring, and a better infighter, and better defense etc. Bute's only advantage is power, I give him a puncher's chance basically.
He is hard to like. I would love to see Bute/Ward, not because it would be competitive. It wouldn't be. Ward will rape him. The only fighter more disgusting than Ward is Bute. Bute is garbage.
Andre Ward is versatile. He can smother guys who can hit him on the outside, or out-box guys who are super slow. Ward's smothering is counter-intuitive to many, who think his best bet against the likes of Bika is to fight on the outside, but the fact is, by getting so close and tieing up his opponent's arm, Ward has much more control and can avoid big punches he doesn't see on the outside.
