Ward vs Kovalev 2 upon us.

Both guys seem supremely confident. I wouldn't be surprised to see a decisive knockout in this one.

 

I'd still enjoying watching Rigo beat up Santa Cruz.

 

Max is often full of shit on HBO these days, having to sell the crappy matchups. He also has a preference for slick boxers which can interfere with his objectivity.

 

Good thing about this fight is the streams are working superbly because nobody can stand to watch Ward fight

Kov starts out with a very big, very clean right to body. Kov owns the middle of the ring. Ward looks a little tired to me. Ward lands some counters, Kov answers. 30 secs to go and Ward lands a very clean lead right.
I thought it was a Kov round. Lampley says Ward.

 

Every time I watch Ward, it's like I've forgotten how horrible he is to watch

Kov chases, eats a little hook...Kov lands a counter fight. Kov misses some stuff. Ward still looks tired. Kov stalking,b ut not landing. Kov gets in some jabs. Ward lands a low blow and Kov takes 20 secs. Ward lands a very nice right to body. Kov attacks. Ward counters well. Another Kov round, but Ward's accuracy did show up here and there.

R3 Kov just misses a bomb. Ward looks a little more aggressive this round. A little trading. Ward landing counters against sloppy leads by Kov. Nothing big, but Kov looks off this round. 1 min left. Nice hook by Ward. Kov acting like the man, but I think that was a Ward round. Similar to R1.

Kovakev is in complete control. Ward looks uncomfortable in there

 

I am in New York at the moment but I couldn't find a bar nearby that would have shown this, there was baseball on in all the ones I saw.

Only way ward can win this fight is if Kovakev fades down the stretch

R4 Ward comes out and throws 2 big hooks. Don't really land. Kov lands some slop. Kov lands some nice stuff, then they trade nice shots. Big jab by Ward that pisses off Kov. Nice 11-2 by Ward after a break. NIce hook by Ward. Kov comes on at end, but this seems Ward round.

I have it 2-2. Lederman had it 3-0 Kov.

 

Ward's tactics frustrating Kov and causing him to lose a bit of composure. Not too much, but enough to lose him the round.

R5 Kov the boss through 90 secs. Ward landing nothing. Kov gets a head shot in. Ward lands a nice hook counter, but Kov winning clearly. Roy saying Kov tired. That's not showing up on tv. Two nice body shots by Ward at end of round, but this was a clear Kov round, imo.
