But you're talking about measurements, which include height and reach.

Paul Williams= 6'1 (at least), 82 inch wingspan
    Antonio Margarito= 5'11, 73 inch wingspan
    Kermit Cintron= 5'11, 74 inch wingspan

    Floyd Mayweather= 5'8, 72 inch wingspan
    Genaro Hernandez= 5'11, 72 inch wingspan
    Diego Corrales= 5'10 to 5'11, 70 inch wingspan
Tony Pep= 6'1, wingspan not listed on boxrec

For Floyd's "brontosaurus" type measurements, he was at least 2 inches shorter than the guys in his 2 biggest wins at 130, and had an equal wingspan to Genaro.

As for Paul's biggest win @ 147, over a large welterweight himself.

Like the guys on HBO said, that's the biggest 2 inch height difference in history.

One of those measurements is wrong, because williams is a lot more than 2 inches taller than marge.

Also when they fought, both times, cintron looked about an inch taller than marge.

Williams's measured wingspan is actually longer than a whole boatload of great HW champions.

Imagine how even tougher he'd be to beat if he actually learned how to properly "fight tall".

Can you imagine if Mayweather was being forced to make 130??

    It works both ways.

Personally, I feel the system is working and shouldn't be "fixed".....

Taking talent deficient fighters {WHOEVER they may be} and making them fight in higher weight classes may be JUST as dangerous as allowing lesser-skilled fighters to fight better skilled but smaller men at lower weights.

People like to reference extreme examples: Gatti-Gamache is an old favourite of many, but even then there was evidence to suggest that Gatti never even made 130 to begin with, so its kind of a bad example.

Imagine if someone looked at Enzo Maccarinelli and told him he had to fight at Heavyweight, cos he is 6'4" and has a long span??

Imagine if someone looked at Howard Eastman and made him fight his career at 175??

Or if Tito was forced to spend his career at 160???

Gatti did it against Reyes Munoz as well.

Munoz was taken out on a stretcher and never fought again.

He did it against Mayweather and got fucked up....imagine if Gatti had been denied the opportunity to weight-drain- he could have easily been a victim too.My point is it is as dangerous to send a man UP as it is to allow him DOWN. And, given that when we allow weight draining we make potential victims of both fighters, then mores to the point.

I've thought for years that the easiest solution would be to keep the 24 hour weigh-in and then add a day-of weigh-in, with a reasonable percentage that fighters are allowed to gain.

Wouldn't work. Promoters would cut all sorts of deals to make sure the fight went ahead, a la Fatty Shaw and Castillo/Corrales.

Guys would be...."ahhh I'm 2lbs over" then there would be some shennanigans an the fight would go ahead regardless.

If a guy can't make weight, and they still make the fight, they sure aren't going to scrap the fight when a guy does make weight and then, uh, doesn't make weight.

Enzo may be 6"4 but he's pretty lean, I'm not talking just height and wingspan, I'm talking overall mass, which includes the thickness of the body, that's why Tua, although smaller height wise than some welterweights, could not fight there due to having arms and legs like tree trunks, you unpious half arab :nono:.
