    Amateurs = different game completely

Biggs and Donovan beat Lennox Lewis in the ams, got wiped out in the pros. Augie Sanchez beat Floyd as an amateur and was never anywhere near the same league as a pro, Henry Tillman beat Tyson twice as an am, got ruined in one round by Mike in the pros. Amateurs mean nothing, there's clearly more to work with in DeGale than there is with Groves.

Well at the moment its Groves whose impressing in the pro's. Also Groves has fought better fighters, unlike the crap De gale is being set up with, the level of opponents De gale is fighting is shocking..:mj::mj:

To be honest that level of opponent is pretty much expected by Warren fighters at this stage of their careers when they are 6-0, Gavins opponents aren't exactly world beaters either. Groves doesn't have the fanfare of DeGale because he isn't an Olympic gold medallist so he has to work harder to get into the spotlight. Samuels was a good win at that stage of his career so fair play, and he's fighting Adamu next which is a decent opponent. DeGale can be taken along more carefully and slowly however so he can adapt to the pro game, as people already know who he is, Groves doesn't have that luxury.

True, but its like Eubank said, you get the fame and the fortune too soon, you dont work as hard cause you have already made the money. i hope De gale doesn't get to complacent. Groves will have to work alot harder to make a name for him self and that could be a major factor in making him a better fighter. Dont forget it was Robin Reid that went to the olympics not Calzaghe.

His chin is better than people think, inexperience and shoddy defence via poor schooling contributed alot to the "weak chin" notion, especially in the Prescott fight.

    Oh, he was schooled alright.:crafty:

No way any amateur fighter of supposedly Olympic medal standards should make those mistakes anyways.

His chin is poor. Even a fighter with shoddy D should be able to take digs now and then.

You say that but everyone knows the amateurs are completely different to the pros, you hear that banded about everywhere these days, because it's true. Anyway, since the Prescott loss there has been a marked improvement in the way he fights. It's obvious.

Yes...but neurologically, the lad is unsound. He might get hit less, but he will eventually get tagged again. And when he does...he will go down, stagger, get hurt.

Even against Kotelnik, he was running when Andrei half connected.

He has less faith in his own chin than Wlad does.

Khan has arguably the worst chin of any 'elite' level boxer right now and for of any 'elite' boxer for as long as I can remember.

There is simply no disputing this fact as the evidence supporting the claim is HUGE. He has been SERIOUSLY hurt by guys like Willie Limond, who absolutely cannot punch a lick.

Khan has adapted his style to ensure that he gets hit less and he has stopped standing and trading like he did earlier on, BUT he still has a truly terrible chin. There is no training or trainer in the world who can do anything about that.

Khan, and by a long way. Yeah he can't take a punch, but his offensive talents are elite.

I think he's under rated big time on this board, and what he does to Malignaggi is going to open a few people's eyes on here as to how much potential he actually has.

The guy will be relevant in championship boxing for the next decade and is potentially a future #1 pfp.

I'm happy to stick my neck out on it.

He may end up having a Vargas like career where a few brutal KO's take its toll early. I'll take that risk.

The PFP guys at the moment are all getting up there in age, and I don't see anyone who has close to the upside Khan does, for his age and respective point of career.

Khan PFP #1 in 2014 :fightme:

    Froch - Hope
    Khan - Hope
    Haye - Hype
    Brook - Hope
    De Gale - Hope
    Gavin - unsure yet
    Mitchell - Hope
    Groves - unsure yet

Future of British boxing looks good with Khan, Brook, De Gale and Mitchell! Not sure about Groves or Gavin yet, need to watch more fights from these two but under Adam Booth - Groves will do well! Haye established at cruiserweight but heavyweight im just not sure he's got the tools to prove himself at the level he believes he will get to. Froch will show his class in the end in what will be a close fight in denmark against kessler and should get the decision unless he's robbed of a win.

If Amir Khan suddenly develops a chin and some balls, can we assume Freddie has him on the same gear???

OK, although against Hall he executed well and showed good skills to me at least but that's the only time I saw him fight.

Yep. I don't even like Khan. What Prescott did to that cocky idiot was brilliant. That's in my top 5 most hilariously brutal KO's. It's not even close to Mundine - Ottke, which is perhaps the greatest flogging of a dickhead in the history of the world. It makes me smile even thinking about it. :bears: If Danny Green could wax him (and lets face it he's the only guy with half a pulse who "The Man" would have the balls to face, which is because he will beat him again, easily) it would perhaps be Australia's proudest moment as a nation.

But back on point, I expect Khan's career to be something of a combination of Wlad/Floyd. Wlad, in the sense that he learns to protect his weakness, and has the skills to do so easily. Floyd in the sense that make great fighters look stupid.

He will lose brutally by KO again, and I'll be laughing as hard as anyone. But I'll stick my neck out again and say Khan will never lose a decision in his career.

Sorry slice, but just no. If you get essentially KTFO on your feet by 1 punch, your chin is crap. Not only that, but he has been wobbled and hurt by lesser punchers than Prescott.

Generally, if a fighter gets KTFO with 1 punch, his chin is shit. There are one or two exceptions, but 99% of the time, a fighter who gets KO'd with 1 punch has a glass chin, more or less.

Sure Khan seems to be improving, sure he can avoid fighting punchers, and fight very cautiously when he does eventually fight a puncher, possibly beating one or two, but at the top level, he won't dominate. Most top tier fighters can punch, and it there's no doubt Khan shall be brutally KO'd again.

Oh and even though I scorned him for ages, calling him a fighting farmer, ironically I'm rooting for Frock to win the tournament.

I'm not a fan of any of the others, and you can't help but root for the ballsy, property developing, fighting farmer.

100% wrong. As I said 2 posts up, most top tier fighters in boxing can punch.

You look at a top ten pound for pound list, you don't see many Malignaggi's and Diaz's etc.

Khan simply doesn't have the chin to be an elite fighter, he'll be matched carefully, possibly beat an average puncher or two by fighting very carefully, but when faced with a sharp shooter who can punch, Khan is getting KTFO again.

Khan can punch.... ? I'd pick him to KO Bradley.

I said future. Of course Khan is nowhere near that point, and probably won't be for several years. They'll move him carefully, as they should.

I agree that Khan will be KO'd again, hopefully several times. But he will also dominate top fighters, and at some point he'll get enough of a run up to take that #1 spot.

Many a fighter has been KOed by one punch and come back bro, especially if it's early in their career. Even Manny was sparked out by one hit against Torrecampo, and look how he came back. What you notice with Manny is that as he moved up he filled out more, got more comfortable with the higher weights and his punch resistance improved. Also the better coaching allowed him to improve technically so he wouldn't have to take those punches in the first place. Why can't the same thing happen with Amir? He certainly seems more comfortable at 140 than he did at 135. I admit Malignaggi isn't the right opponent to gauge this with, I've always said that, but he will have to face a puncher soon and I happen to think he will cope fine.

Dirrell arguably beat him, and had him hurt FAAAAR more than he did Dirrell.
