what do we think of Broner?

I think Broner is an excellent fighter, although still unproven somewhat. The weight thing is a cuntish thing to do however, regardless of the disparity in skill.

I doubt it. He looks to be a full lightweight at least. He is a cunt of the second highest order for sure. Making weight, or not making weight, happens. It is part of the sport. Fighters need to be punished for not discussing this beforehand. If you are 10 pounds over and are in complete shape already, you need to tell the other party so at least the other guy can not drain himself. Broner acted like a cunt.

 

Irish you are missing the point too. He probably did really struggle to make the weight, and won't ever fight at 130 again, but the point is he should have told the opposing camp a week or two before, hold the fight at lightweight in order to even the playing field and not make his opponent drain himself more than him - as per Chico Vs Castillo 2 and Funeka Vs Guzman 2.

Nice in theory, but I think most fighters believe they will be able to make weight right up until maybe 8 hours before the weigh-in when they've been sitting in a sauna for an hour, not sweating, feeling like they are about to die, and still are heavy by 5 lbs.

The science/skill behind weight cutting has progressed tremendously since the 80's and 90's. Not only are the guys able to cut more weight, they are able to withstand or avoid the negative effects. Whether this is through transfusions or whatever, I don't know, but I think it is a key reason that boxing deaths have become so uncommon today as even compared to 10 years ago.

 

Look, if you Jennifer Lopez has her ass in your face and you are only rocking 4", then you know that's it, thats your lot. If some fugly is in your face and you are rocking 4" you can always pretend it is the bitches fault and that you actually have another inch or two in there somewhere.

These guys are down to the wire. They know when they have an extra lb left in them, and when they don't. MWS is right, Broner was rocking 4" and he should have called the other camp and said so.

 

I highly doubt we'll see him at 130 again.

My guess is he stays at 135 for about a year, and by time he's like 24 he'll be moving up to 140, which is probably his natural weight.

Don't get me wrong BRONER is what boxing needs, a fighter with charisma, some crossover appeal and he can fight a bit. He might dominate at 135 because there is nobody there...but at 140 with Rios, Matthysse, Maidana, Peterson, Khan, Alvarado, etc....etc...What he got away with at 130 fighting the smaller guys is not going to work against 140.
