Need to se the replay but seemed a bad stoppage although it was obvious Alvarado was hurt.

good stop... Russell gave him every chance to do something, anything

He was just standing there, spaced out, getting clocked

BULLSHIT stoppage! Although, Rios was likely about to stop him away.

Like cdogg said, Rios was looking tired and weary for a couple of rounds, having to dig deep to mount some offense, but damn, he got a second wind and laid the smack down.

    No, it was premature.

Worst stoppage we've ever seen? No. But still too early.

Rios was gonna stop him anyway though.

Rios is a good finisher, and Alvarado has no D, and no concept of holding. So it was academic. But STILL it was an early stoppage.

Alvarado was out of it and taking one shot after another... he was looking around like he didn't know where he was

As long as there's no standing 8 counts, this is a good stoppage

It only seemed early because we were disappointed the fight ended, we wanted to see more. He was taking BIG punches, not throwing anything back, and not really defending himself either.

As I said, Rios was gonna stop him anyway, so it makes no difference.

But it was still too early for my taste.

    Rios will stop Garcia.

Rios is oddly relaxed for such an intensely offensive fighter. His head was getting snapped back on the regular and it was reacting like it was no different than blocking the punches with his gloves.

Great fight. Just saw the replay of the stoppage. I think it was a bit premature (given the style of the fight) but no complaints. It's one of those judgement calls. Alvarado was looking pretty out of it. Perhaps a few more seconds would have allowed him to clear his head. On the other hand he could have just taken more unanswered punches.

    Actually Cdogg, I stand corrected.

Upon replay, the stoppage wasn't that bad.

    Alvarado was pretty done.

Agreed, it's one of the weirdest things about Rios. He just casually takes these big shots, his head snaps back and you think he must be hurt, but it's like his head is a third glove. He must have an uber thick, Homer esque skull. Just needs a stronger neck.

Yeah I thought Alvarado was pretty much out on his feet.

It could have gone on but it wasn't worth it. Rios could have seriously hurt him.

Would like to see Rios against the likes of Bradley, Garcia, Matthysse, Khan, Marquez, but not Pacquiao or Mayweather. Mismatches.
