Vargas needs a KO to win definitely. But the fight could be over already as I'm on 4 minute delay!!

Happy Anniversary Jake. :) I decided to celebrate my wedding debt by not buying this tonight and it sounds like we're all making good decisions here.

    It was a draw?

Ludicrous. Clearly a victory for Mayorga. Clearly!

anyone here agree with 113-113? That means Vargas won 7 rounds, but the 2 kd's bumped him down to a draw. Not sure I got the vibe that anyone saw that fight happening.

no, one judge had it a draw.

edit - Jake, no I was surprised with the score cards. I think I had Vargas winning 5 rounds or so, but with the deductions the margin should have been greater.

I always enjoyed Vargas and think he had a good, if short run. If he needed to get beat by THAT guy, hopefully he can go find some peace now.

BTW...anyone catch that Hatton-PBF 247 got a full right up in the NY Post today? Not in the sports section either. It got reviewed as must see TV

    Both men looked terrible.

Guys like Mosley, Cotto, Mayweather, Margarito etc would eat these guys alive.

Fuck no. I had it 7-5 Mayo, 115-111. And most of the rounds were easy to score.

say what you want about Mayorga, but he's the type of guy who only get beat by the elite fighter. He beats some very good fighters in Vargas, Piccirello, Forrest and Lewis ( and I thought he won vs Spinks), who are a cut under elite, but, strangely,it seems he can't compete at all with the elite as he was mismatched by ODLH and Tito

If I'm Art Abraham, I'm having my people call DK if he's serious about Coming to America. The hardcore would poop on the idea but he'd get on Sports Center.

And LOL Jake, but if it was 1995 you just know Roy would be calling Mayo every day and putting it on PPV and then have a line about it in a terrible song years later.

I'm glad Mayorga won anyway, since Vargas is on the outs. I want to see him back in the mix...if only for the hilarity of his press conferences.

he lost against Spinks, and deservedly so. Even if you gave Mayo credit for a KD that was never called (forget if it was 11th or 12th), I still had Spinks winning that fight by at least 5 pts.
