Considering that the rematch should be a KO I don't think that is very close of an example.

Or, if we bend the rules a bit, Wlad-Byrd is a good example. I mean Byrd didn't quite win the rematch but if he had, it would be a perfect pick:kidcool:

What rematch should be a KO? Hut Hut is right though, if Mosley had gotten the decision in the 2nd Forrest fight it would have been a good example. It was a damn close fight.

Sorry, I thought it said KO in the first post. My bad. Though even then you have to stretch the thinking quite a lot since Mosley wasn't even close of winning at the cards

"Dominated" might be too strong of a word for this example, but Holyfield clearly lost the first Bowe fight and then came back and won the rematch.

Also, I don't know if this fits the topic because it is a 2nd and 3rd fight, Vinny Pazienza was pretty much handled by Greg Haugen in their second fight, and then came back and won the rubber match.

I've never seen the first Willie Monroe- Marvin Hagler fight, but all accounts that I've read or heard of had Monroe winning pretty comfortably. Hagler came back and scored two stoppage wins over Monroe.

And who can forget Rocky Balboa coming back and winning the rematch against Clubber Lang after getting destroyed in their first fight??

Speaking of Nelson, he knocked out Leija in their third fight after losing the second one pretty clearly.

Tonight's fighter Rahman , dominated Lewis IMO before nearly getting his jaw removed from his face in the second brutal loss.

I'm one of the biggest Lewis haters on here, but even I thought it was about even at the time of the KO, nothing close to a domination.

He may have been winning by a point or two but he wasn't really beating him up. He was definitely outworking him and Lewis seemed amused until that right hand decked him.

What's really funny is people blaming the Ocean's 11 role, when really all he and Wladimir did was walk to the ring and spar for 20 seconds.

i agree with alot of people that if mosley had got the decision against forrest in the second fight (which was very close imo) it would have been a perfect example. however he didn't so no.

i forget who agreed with me about holyfield-bowe but thats the closest example i can think of, although it was fairly competitive 117-110 is still a wide and comfortable score so i guess that counts. plus there was a knockdown.

its weird when you think about it though, theres plenty of examples where its the other way round, fighters who have lost close split decisions in one fight then come back and absolutely dominate the rematch. why do you think that is?

You serisouly can't think of two worse examples ???

I mean Morales DID beat Pacman in the first fight. Almost NOBODY will argue this. Pacman DID KO Morales in the rematch.

Spinks DID beat Judah on points in the first match. The majority of people think it was a good decision. Judah DID KO Spinks in the rematch.

Please enlighten me about the rest of the excellent examples out there that I missed while I was coming up with the 2 worst examples possible.

    Patterson-Johannson
Duran-Dejesus (maybe not domination, but Dejesus beat Duran handily)

Julio Cesar Chavez - Willy Wise. I know Chavez was a million times past his best but he still got beat quite handily in the first fight but won the second by 2nd round tko

I was thinking Duran - De Jesus, but decided that the first fight wasn't really a domination, just a clear win.

    Duran-Leonard?

The only one I can think of is John John Molina vs Tony Lopez trilogy: Molina was robbed the first fight. The second Molina trashed Lopez and stopped him. But in their third fight Lopez nearly decapitated Molina and gave him his first real beating.
