Seriously. This is another non-fight on the part of PBF - it's truly what I predicted which is that he'd be on the side-line until GBP found a suitably hyped-up and over-rated opponent for him.

I can't see how PBF breaks the 5 spot with a win over Ortiz.

Whatever happen to, what have you done lately?

In his last fight Ortiz defeated the previously unbeaten Andre Berto for a Welterweight title. It was an exciting fight and he won clearly (although it was competitive).

Want me to remind you how many times Pacquiao lost or was stopped?

This doesn't help your cause. Most thought Berto was shit going into that fight.

No one had berto within sniffing distance of a top fighter level. Plus, Ortiz was coming off an awful draw with Peterson.

Exactly, what on earth are you talking about Sly?

I hate to use the word about any fighter at this level, but FOR world level, Berto is fucking crap.

He has fast hands and that's it. Even Khan is much better.

Sure it was an impressive performance by Ortiz, but I knew full well he was capable of beating the likes of Berto before the fight as long as he kept it together mentally.

Berto is nothing at world level.

So Morales is facing this chap on the Mayweather jr. Ortiz fight card. What is the verdict on him? fodder or can he fight at all?

Berto is far from crap. I guess he has to be shitted on because people don't want to give Floyd an ounce of credit.

I've said this about Berto long before Floyd signed to fight Ortiz. It has nothing to do with Floyd, you groupie.

And to clarify, Berto is obviously a good fighter, when I say crap I mean crap for world level.

At world level, Berto is nothing.

i am quite sure if he had defeated ortiz and pacquiao fought him next, berto would be considered a viable opponent.

More of a side note than an actual point to the thread, but Donaire is back with Top Rank and should be fighting later this year.

REED and Sly have it right. Somewhere between #2 and #5 if the fight goes according to plan. I'd probably say #3, as it's tough to plead a case for leapfrogging Pacquiao or Martinez no matter what happens.

I've seen him a couple of times and was far from impressed. Easy win for Morales.

That's one of the stupidest things you've said Neil.

If Berto defeated Ortiz he wouldn't be Berto, he'd be a better fighter than Berto. Berto lost to Ortiz, because he's not very good.

And even if he did win, he wouldn't have been a particularly viable opponent for Pacquiao. Ortiz is a 140 pounder best known for falling apart mentally, Berto was supposed to win. Most people would rightfully expect Pacquiao to steamroll Berto.

berto almost knocked the guy out. I am quite sure if Pacquiao was facing berto next coming off a victory over ortiz there would be plenty of folks here adding berto's name to the list of guys mayweather jr avoided at welter while praising pacquiao for facing an undefeated champ.

If Berto beat Ortiz all the Floyd fans would be saying Ortiz was nothing but a blown up 140lber who quit against Maidana and would give him zero credit for the win just to diminish Manny if he did fight him.

As of now, the ONLY people claiming Berto was any good are the Floyd fans. Look at some old posts about Berto, nobody thought much of the guy.

I'm no longer grouping you with the rest of the Floyd fans, so I don't mean you when I say "Floyd fans" but you know how some of these guys are.

Search through the forum for the Berto vs Mosley thread (when that fight was scheduled, pre-Haitian earthquake) and you'll see that I picked Berto back then. So i hope you're not saying that I'm only suddenly hyping Berto in order to make Ortiz look better.

It's not that I think much of Berto, it's that I don't think much of Haye, Pascal, or Abraham. Though saying Berto is better than Pascal is indeed a bit hyperbolic..

He'd lose to anyone else in the top 5. WW sadly just isn't that deep right now.

not to me. i guess mike jones might be able to beat him, but i have not been impressed by him. Id take berto over mosley all day and he'd have a decent chance at ortiz in a rematch.

Saying stupid shit doesn't make it true. Nice try though.

Cotto would beat this shit out of Mayweather. I can say that since they have never fought and it's the internet where anyone can say what ever stupid shit they want.
