Lytle would kill Nick Diaz in boxing too.

It's amazing how people continue to under estimate Nick's power. His punches don't look hard yet look how his opponent's react.

And I have absolutely never seen Chris Lytle throw the same volume of punches as Diaz. Hell, his last fight with Matt Serra was 100% stand up and he didn't even get close to Nick's typical output.

Does anyone doubt that Diaz stops Matt Serra? Seriously, if Serra tried to stand for 3 rounds with Diaz, he'd end up knocked out.

Lytle is a very solid boxer for MMA but he isn't leaps ahead of Diaz. That's simply the thought of someone blinded by hatred.

But then again, the same person called Aoki the best grappler in MMA...So..........

    That's funny.

Diaz throws punches like a girl dude. Rocking chinny ass Cyborg isn't going to change that.

Name one fighter that can hit a topside Gogoplata.

What about the list of grapplers who have hit gogoplatas against top 10 competition?

    Hammerlocks?

Seriously just watch some fights. You might be a little deprived fawning over mediocre fighters like Diaz.

    Watch

    Aoki vs Alvarez
    Aoki vs Kawajiri
    Aoki vs Hansen Shockwave 2006
    Aoki vs Nagata
    Aoki vs Hirota
Aoki vs Aurelio (brilliant North American style grappling vs 3rd Degree BJJ Black Belt)

The guy fights 10 times in a little over 2 years, loses ONE fight at 155, to a fighter fighting on his home turf, in Aoki's first fight in the US and you think it is the greatest thing ever.

Sorry, unlike your boy Diaz, Aoki actually fights good fighters, so sometimes he loses, even looks downright bad in some fights. But don't worry, at least it was to a top LW and not to Joe Riggs.

That said, that statement is pretty much subverted by Roger Gracie, who I think is he best grappler in MMA by a good deal now. Jacare maybe a close second, I think he plays it a bit safe though. Plus even in BJJ, Jacare is known to win on points or advantage rather than subs. Not that he doesn't also get subs, but its carried over into MMA where you see him being a bit safer than Aoki is, or fighters like that. Nice armbars though.

Roger doesn't even need to be safe, he just gets mount and wins by choke. Hasn't changed a bit from BJJ.

Aoki is contemplating retirement after losing to Jeinotsu the Tranny. Go look it up. Hellboy is good, not great. Nagata is good, not great. Hirota is good, not great. Anybody here can spin the facts to support the argument in their favor (a tactic you frequently employ, TLC) If the fight were to happen this weekend 9 times out of 10 DIAZ BEATS AOKI by sub of KO, whichever he fancies. In fact TLC, I wager a sig bet with you on the Diaz vs Daley fight. I got Nick.

Oh man... So Aoki lands a few gogoplatas and that makes him MMA's best grappler?

The dude looked like a hooker being paid to lay still on her back when he fought Melendez.

And it's funny you mentioned the gogoplata finish because that's exactly how Diaz finished Gomi who was Top 10..

So yeah, I didn't need to look far to find "grapplers who have hit gogoplatas against top 10 competition"

Even when you're trying to diminish Diaz and praise Aoki, you fail.

Regardless, it's just a dumb comment. There are several more accomplished MMA grapplers way ahead of Aoki. But it is good for you that he ran back to Japan to get back on the winning track.

Oh, and while we're at it, at 170 Diaz destroys Aoki worse than Melendez did.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing when I read this the first time through. In fact, Gomi was top 3 at that time and was also in the p4p discussion.

Yep, and much like his fight on Saturday with Cyborg, Diaz locked in the sub against Gomi within seconds of hitting the mat.

I think it makes a lovely addition to my signature.

I was going to add in here but Trplsec is doing a fine job of schooling you

The simple fact you call diaz a medicore fighter is just crazy. He is EASILY one one of the most talented fighters PERIOD

And as i said before the only thing holding him back from being great IMO is his lack of physical strengh. He would be able to compete with a guy like GSP but in the end i think he would just lay and pray him.

Additionaly I would have to think this being an actual boxing site you would have a little more respect for his striking ability. Sure his punches may not look great but time and time again hes proven his striking is legit. He stands in the pocket with most people he fights and typically alwasy wins the exchanges. Im not sure what you would want to see out of him as far as striking goes

You call Cyborg "chinny" yet he has the nuts to stand toe to toe with some of the most feared strikers in the game like Manhoef. Cyborg isn't top 10 or even top 20, but the guy is a warrior. I have got you figured out, TLC, you like cosmetics over substance.

I'd like to see Diaz vs Aoki in a grappling match. That would be sweet. Diaz would probably be too big though.

As you said, Cyborg isn't elite by any means. But calling him 'chinny' is just plain stupid. Apparently TLC has never seen the Manhoef-Cyborg slugfest in which Cyborg trades with Manhoef in a freaking brutal war. A chinny fighter doesn't trade like that with Manhoef. Period.

    fixed.

anyways, i have no comment on whether cyborg's chin's good or bad, but i think a lot of fighters dont think 'oh i have a shitty chin, so i'm gonna tuck it in real tight and not get hit' (except for aoki maybe haha). i think if you're a brawler, you're a brawler.

you never notice a lot of this slick counter punchers have poor chins?

Its not too common for a guy who knows he has a bad chin to fight and aggresive style

Chinny or not chinny, Cyborg exchanged with Manhoef because he was able to hurt him and it probably seemed like he could finish the fight. It wasn't a brutal war because only one guy landed stunning shots.

In retrospect Cyborg probably wishes he fought with a different strategy but I can see why he did what he did.

top 5 in Dream maybe, definitely not in world rankings at LW. Hansen has never broke the top 10 in LW.

Is this supposed to be valid, or invalidate my statement?

What even, decent fighter gets KO'd by bums no one has heard of?

are you kidding me? This is MMA. guys get KO'd or subbed all the time. Its the nature of the beast. And when you are a guy like Cyborg who fights constantly, its bound to happen. If you think Cyborg has a weak chin, ask Melvin Manhoef, who has gone on record saying Cyborg is one of the toughest guys he has ever fought.

Paul Daley can scrap, but that is it. Everytime he fights someone with well rounded skill he will lose. His ground game isn't bad, its terrible. With that said, he has the power to KO anyone at 170, that is if he can make 170.

Hansen is a very solid LW. Not even close to top 10. His best claim to fame is losing to Aoki and Alvarez. And when he lost to those guys that was definitely the peak of his career.

Name any recent contender that's been KO'd by regional cans?

Or one with over 5 KO losses.

    Rocked by Nick Diaz.
