For me it wasn't a specific fight but it was no doubt SRL that got me watching at first

My father used to watch the fights on the weekends... They were on regular network TV... I didn't start consciously paying attention until I was about 9, when Tyson came upon the scene... It didn't take long for me to get hooked on the fights... I was 11 when Duran/Barkley happened, which is more than old enough to get excited about a fight

most of the fights I'd mention have already been mentioned here..

REED, you should write for a boxing publication. Good stuff. I envy you for having had those fight experiences in those eras.

Hagler/Leonard was the first big fight where I was keenly aware of the build-up to it, the anticipation... My father was disgusted that it was on PPV and refused to pay to watch it on TV, but they played commercials for it on cable all the time and he would talk about it... I was 4 when Holmes/Cooney happened and I certainly recall people talking about it and of course, Cooney being a big half-Irish kid didn't hurt but it was more peripheral to me... You are aware of adults caring about this person or this event, but you don't understand it... Hagler/Leonard I was old enough to understand that it was a big deal, I knew both of these names well (especially Sugar Ray who was always on TV and had done commercials)

Arguello made Pryor's head do a Pez dispenser imitation several times that night. He would stopped damn near anyone else with those punches but Pryor just kept coming. I was in awe.

Sanchez vs. Gomez - REED Held a Slight GRUDGE Against Sanchez, for Dismantling Danny "Lil Red" Lopez (an Often Televised "Action Fighter" who REED Grew Fond Of) 2wice...On the Flip Side, Sanchez was the "Favorite Lil' Guy" of REED's Ol' Man...REED was Feeling Wilfredo Gomez and his GAUDY Record (30+ Wins, ALL by KO, 0 Losses)...

This was a LEGITIMATE Lower Weight SUPERFIGHT...It was Also 1 of the More 1-Sided Superfights...From the Very 1st Round, Sanchez FIRMLY Asserted Himself as the Superior Fighter & BATTERED Gomez for 8 Rounds...REED was Reluctant @ 1st, but he Finally "Got" Salvador Sanchez, After This 1...

Gomez showed incredible heart in that fight... He was a dirty, unlikable cunt, but he had a lot of courage... Sanchez closed both his eyes, fractured his cheekbone and the guy never quit, kept fighting hard, trying to turn it around... extremely gutsy display

, Lumachenko pro debut is set against Johathan Oquendo. I`don't care that Oquendo is not undefeated, in all odds, he's far, far more dangerous than that cormieux dude.

seems arum might not have a problem making it happen unless he plans to change his whole M.O. and begin to promote in europe where perhaps lomachenko can make him money.
