I'll be impressed with Chavez jr. when he steps up his competition.

Maybe by his 50th fight? :dunno:

He is not a bad fighter but damn just cause he had a short amateur carreer they are moving him along like snail.

I think Alfonso Gomez will fuck him up if they do fight.

I think, at the very least, 'lesser known' means lesser known in the US.

Mike Stanley a solid second stringer... he played the whole center of the field (second base, shortstop) and he would sign an autograph now and then:tease:. Thurmond was my hero god rest his soul:dunno:.

Isn't he fighting Rey Sanchez next? Granted, it's probably a fight that should've come 1-2 years ago, but it's a significant step up.

In comparison, I'd pick Sanchez to beat someone like Tim Bradley.

People tend to forget about JCC that, yes he's 33 fights into his career. But he's also only been a pro for just over 4 years.

Sanchez is better than any one on the resume of the Peterson brothers, both of whom were Olympic-caliber amateurs, and only one year behind as pros. Andre Ward, a Gold medalist, is just now stepping up in competition.

The one complaint I can understand about JCC Jr is that too many of his mismatches make its way to Telefutura, or PPV undercards. But beyond that, his career progress really isn't that far behind many other prospects.

I hear you Latin but slow and steady wins the race. He gets more accurate and he is very young. A lot of those guys do fight a goodamount of fights, learn the craft and then they are good fighters. I applaud learning the craft when possible, itw what guys did in the old days which is why they could do everything and fight for fifteen rounds.

Juanma is a very, very average fighter. I doubt he becomes much of anything. That stoppage vs Dianzo was a joke.

Hmmm...so our faves that are not necessarily top fighters (from a record perspective) and are not among the popular set?

    David Alfonso Lopez

    Paul Briggs

    Rodel Mayol

Some lesser-known "historical" guys...if you can remember or know of 'em!

    Marcos Villasana

    Gilberto Roman

    Mando Ramos

    Nana Konadu

    Victor Callejas

    Betulio Gonzalez

    Chango Carmona

Fernando Trejo- always comes to fight and is rarely in a non entertaining fight

Brandon Rios- a lesser known prospect who fights out of Oxnard and is a pretty good kid with fast hands

Austin Trout- kid out of NM we used in prepping for Paul Williams. This kid has got some serious skill and hopefully will start making noise soon

Miguel Huerta- even though he has been on TV recent I have been a fan of his for a while.

I always forgot you were the board's other Papin fan.

OK, I'm a fan because he's related to my wife (3rd or 4th cousins, I forget the lineage).

    What's YOUR excuse?

    Your three...

The first is a promising prospect

The second is a good pressure fighter

    The last is a fraud.

I like Paul Clavette ( he kind of fight like Sven Ottke ) and Justin St-Juste ( mf got huge power in his southpaw left but hes kind of old for a prospect ). Not lesser known but my favorite current fighter is John Ruiz.

    That's probably true.

His greatest desire in life is to learn to speak Spanish so he can inherit the job on HBO Ray Torres used to have.

 Hey, he punched hard, was exciting, and showed flashes of very good boxing at times which made you pull your hair out (why didn't he do it more often?!?!)...never in a dull fight.

    Like the kid.
