Sure he deserves credit, he was a good, solid fighter, I just think he beat a career worst Eubank, who was flat and just didn't fight very well. Pre Watson Eubank would have battered Collins.

It's a bit like Junior Jones having 2 wins over Barrera, sure he beat him twice and deserves credit, but the rest of their careers show who the better fighter is.

Yeah but the point is that joe went on to dominate the division. That was probably calzaghes toughest fight.

Im not saying he had a better career but looking he deserves the credit for beating Eubank. Post Watson chris was still a top fighter.

he went on to dominate cans for years and his biggest wins were against two old men, one of whom was hopelessly shot

I don't rate him... he's the shittiest fighter I have ever seen anyone call "great"

Robin Reid gave him hell and Robin Reid was dogshit

I'm staying out of this, I don't like us all ganging up on Cdogg now that he's on his own in the Calzaghe hate club

Collins is pitched about right for me. He was a good, solid world level fighter, basically a 90's version of Froch with all of the same attributes and the same deficiencies. His wins over Benn and Eubanks definitely come with an asterix; Benn was absolutely beyond finished by the time he fought Collins whilst the Eubanks wins were certainly more credible but as MWS points out, post-Watson Eubanks was not the same guy as the one who stopped Benn or who somehow found a way to beat Watson after being beaten shitless for 11 rounds beforehand.

Watson, for the record, was the best of all of them.

I was going to respond to this then realised it would be a waste of both our times.
