    haha.

galaxy was a bad ass dude but he fought a bunch of nobodies. sahaprom had much superior competition and was dominant in a more relevant weight class than galaxy.

not sure who's greater, but galaxy would've knocked out nana konadu for sure

Simon was a very very good fighter, saw him fight in Crystal Palace against Kevin Lueshing, shame he threw it away and we never got to see him against the other guys when 154 was a very good division.

well he was at 160 before that car crash. i think he would've given hopkins a tough fight in a losing effort.

Oh yea he beat Krajnc didn't he? Forgot about that, good point. Yea his workrate would have troubled Hopkins but like you say I couldn't see him beating Bernard at that point, he was a developing talent and still a bit raw, as you could see in the fight with Rodney Jones.

i thought he looked like complete shit against jones although there were reports that he had food poisoning prior to that fight.

he looked pretty good beating the shit outta kranjc but looked rather flat against that french dude cherifi. it would've been interesting to see him fight joppy, who he was slated to fight at one point.

i liked his fight vs. wayne alexander and his fight vs. wright is one of my favorite.

Yea he seemed to have real trouble with Jones jab, was a closeish fight, but the food poisoning would explain alot if that's true. The Alexander fight was a nice little barnburner, Alexander may not have been the most skilled guy but one thing he did have was world class power and he wobbled Simon big time early on. Good fight need to find that one.

alexander at one point may have been the hardest puncher in the game but he also had the worst chin ever. his KO win over takaloo was fun while it lasted.

It's funny you say that, he was on the undercard of the Simon-Lueshing fight against a journeyman from Watford called Ojay Abrahams, the guy had lost more than he won and it was expected to be an easy win for Alexander as he had won the first fight by 1st round DQ. Turned out to be fight of the night, Alexander was down twice and Abrahams down two or three times himself before getting stopped! That Takaloo KO is one of my favourites, so fucking vicious :bears:

Gomez and Benitez, to me, have to be rated above Mike

Tito is in the same ballpark, though I think head to head Mike would have beaten him

I would rate him number one in the carribean, he wasnt as consistent as Gavilan, but he has maybe the best quality of opposition over the long haul of any fighter EVER

looking into this a little more in depth - a random tidbit: I think the best boxer in the history of Venezuela has to be Leo Gamez!

Valero has a chance to overtake him one day... but Gamez was a 4 division titleholder! Other noteables like Vincente Rondon, Esparragoza, Betulio Gonzalez and Cristanto Espana just can;t compare to the Great Gamez' ring accomplishments
