Some good points you make, some i'd take issue with...

Firstly, i for one am not pretending that he isn't largely untested. Murat was his biggest test to date, and isn't no scrub....but one dimensional and limited, sure. However Cleverly didn't just squeak a decision in this fight, he dominated the action...meeting Murat in the centre of the ring, staying in the pocket and actually forcing Murat to go backwards. He could have used his length to make this an easy night....but easy often equals boring, and Cleverly had set his heart on stealing the show.

Combinations. Cleverly threw a tonne of them in this fight - varied too, and they were key in opening up gaps in Murat's Abraham-esque defence.

I think he showed decent defence in this fight too....his hands were up, so he depended less on reflexes...which as you say, when he boxes from range he has a tendancy to do. It's been a flaw of many british boxers over the last decade or so, because matrix style defence works at domestic level, but you soon get found out when you make the step up. Hopefully Cleverly has learnt this, but we'll have to see how he chooses to defend himself when he reverts back to fighting from long range.

And let's remember, Cleverly has only just gone full-time. He's 23. He's far from being the finished package.

Yeah i basicly agree. I watched 8 fights but couldn't find the lastest vs. Murat. It seems as if he's made improvements and still is unfinished ie. "green". I did say he is good and had alot of potential for 23 in a weight class of avg. age 30. He is being moved much too fast but because of his age he could regroup after a lost and still be the future of the division. Time will tell!:hammert:
