He wasn't talking about RIGHT NOW - go back and read his post.
He was talking about back then. Even if you thought Winky beat Vargas by 2 rounds , now you agree that same Winky would have shut out Oscar for 12 rounds ?
As for right now , you think if Winky got down to 147 , he would be able to actually even fight ?
He would have to wheeled in sitting in a wheel chair if he made 147.
I would bet Oscar would win more then 3 rounds against Winky if they fought at 147.

Honestly man , you are arguing meaningless crap here in deffense of Neil for no other real reason then the fact that you guys both dislike DLH and you both have a problem with me because you know I don't ride Mayweathers ball sack like so many people here do.

eh, i wouldnt say i dislike oscar. if anything, i hate mayweather the most.

not sure how oscar-winky would've played out in 99. oscar was smaller and winky wasn't as dominant.

I'm not saying Oscar would have even won.
I stated earlier that I would favor Winky.

I was really just pointing out that it was idiotic to just think Oscar would have gotten his ass kicked all 12 rounds and shut out by the same Winky that fought Vargas.
IMO thats just pure hate and dislike for DLH.

people always make the money excuse as if Winky's value is the same as years ago.

VArgas, Tito, Hopkins and Mosley all fought Winky and it wasn't because of the payday it was because of the challenge. that is my point.

Hell Oscar fought Campas on ppv at one point. I doubt money was a motivation for that one.

seriously, when he is retired I don't care how many people he fought, Winky is the one fighter he truly ducked.

True...but what I'm taking from this thread is that the notion of Oscar ducking Winky illustrates how ludicrous it is to say that Floyd ducked Margarito.

All the Floyd haters/Oscar lovers shouldn't ask why Floyd went to 147 and fought Judah, Baldomir and now Hatton instead of MargaritWHO...but why Oscar went to 154 and fought Casillego, Mosley (twice beaten by Wright), Mayorga (already destroyed by Tito and beaten by spinks), blown up Superfeatherweight Mayweather and not Winky Wright!!

Double L and YourCOCKneedscleaning...please answer that one.

Why're you bringing up Floyd all the time even in non-Floyd threads?

    I can agree with this.
I'm one of the people who don't think Floyd ducked Margarito.
However , at 154 , Oscar fought the man who won a decision over Winky.
Floyd at 147 did not do the same in fighting Baldomir or even Zab.
Niether of them fought Margarito let alone beat him.

the Floyd/Margarito comparison is fucking silly. Margarito hasn't beaten a good champion ever. He is just supposed to be a challenge for Floyd style wise.

Sure Oscar has fought bigger names than Winky but winky has beaten fighters that Oscar couldn't beat like Mosley and Tito. He fought Bernard at 170 to a sloppy yet close decision. Oscar's performance against Hopkins is fucking disgraceful.

When I look at a fighter's carreer there is always a few fighter he should have fought around his weight class. that's why VARgas, Mosley, Tito, and Hopkins all fought Winky. Nothing to do with money, it was aobut the challenge.

Vargas fought Winky cause he had to mostly.
Mosely fought Winky cause he was stupid back then.

Bernard fought Winky cause many people thought Winky beat Taylor

Tito , well Tito was stupid as well. Everyone knew he would lose , how the fuck did he not see this.

delahoya said he would never fight vargas. wright defeated a young, unbeaten vargas and was robbed. delahoya decided vargas was a worthy opponent after he was clearly damaged goods based on his bouts with flores and rivera. only a dullard would suggest they fought the same level vargas.

after mosley defeated delahoya he immediately got his ass thoroughly whipped by wright.

delahoya wouldve met the same fate.

You mean how you think PBF fought the same Delahoya as Mosely did ?

Anyway , the Vargas that fought DLH was "one of" the best Vargas's I seen fight .. He looked good that night.
I have never heard anyone say that version of Vargas looked bad or shot.
In fact I heard nothing but good things said about Vargas's performance that night. It was just that DLH was a touch better.

DLH has never been blown out for 12 rounds by any fighter. I doubt Winky would do it. Hell , you would be hard pressed to find anyone at 147/154 all time that would blow DLH out for all 12 rounds.

    I scored Wright-Vargas a draw, 6-6.

Vargas was more effective than usually given credit for, especially to the body. Wright let Vargas win rounds late - and Wright did not sweep all of the first 7-8 rounds.

There were many close rounds. This is one of those fights were the "myth" has continued to grow, IMHO.

    Peace.

when was this DLH-Wright fight meant to take place? :dunno:

DLH had better stuff going for him when he moved to 154........big money fights over Vargas (who beat Wright) and Mosley

at the time Wright was considered a non-factor at 154

by the time Wright was considered to be anybody, DLH had the whole thing against Hopkins going

you make it sound like destiny had to put those two in the ring in order for the fight to happen.

Oscar could have and can make the fight happen whenever. He never wanted to and still doesnt' want to.

Back then Arum told Winky he would never land the DLH fight. Now Oscar says that fight will never happen.

Does that sound like a difference of schedules or someone who clearly doesn't wanna fight him? :dunno:

I just look at winky as someone who you fight for the challenge because he has been one of the best in his era. Oscar would still get his money so that excuse is out.

Oscar fought campas on ppv for god's sake. Let's stop pretending like every oponent Oscar has faces has been top draw in his own right.
