And you never could refute it either Reed because you know deep down that when the walls closed in and Cotto and Margarito got closer and closer to Floyd in getting fights made, Floyd quit the sport. You know that's what happened.

You can't compare joe blow off the street to a professional athlete in any sport. The difference is we are fans of the sports and in most cases pay to see them. If fans weren't paying, what career would these guys have?

Obviously fans can be way off base in their criticisms but you're making it sound like they should just shut up about everything.

How much did Peter get paid last night?

Give me that pay cheque and i'll quit when the going gets tough too.

Fans can talk shit as much as they like but they don't have room to talk shit about a guy who lost a few years of his life during 8 rounds of an absolute beatdown administered by one of the physically biggest and strongest heavyweights who ever stepped into a boxing ring.

Why don't they? We can talk about whatever we want.

I haven't heard anybody here say they "knew what Peter was going through" or "They wouldn't have quit".

That would be a different story altogether.

The fact is Peter fought like a complete sloth from the beginning of the fight. He showed no desire and didn't even seem to care that he was there.

When you're fighting for the heavyweight championship of the world i don't think it's wrong to expect a bit more.

If he beat Vitali yesterday, those same bandwagoning sh*t talkers would be on here full of praise. We all know everybody wants to see the Klits get licked. People were throwing parties when the heir to the throne Wlad got knocked off brutally by Sanders. Threads like "Another euro bum bites the dust" and "EXPOSED", decorating the forums for weeks.
The same fans who hope and pray Tyson and Lewis and them would return and restore order cause nobody wants them euro bums holding our belts.

So you mean getting punched in the face about 200 times over 8 rounds means he's showing no desire? Why didn't he just quit after 2 rounds? I guess Tyson showed no desire against Lewis since all he did was follow Lewis around for 8 rounds. How about Brewster in the Wlad rematch? Tua against Lewis? Sanders against Vitali.
Come on man, this sh*t ain't new. We've seen this countless times in world title matches.
Look at Peter's face after the fight.

I'm not sure how you can use all of those fights as examples. The only ones even close are Wlad-Brewster and Lewis-Tua.

Tua was inept, but kept trying unlike Peter.

Brewster took a bad beating but still put up a much better effort than Sam.

Peter did nothing for 8 rounds and then quit on his stool. I'm not saying he didn't take a beating. It's his lack of effort that i find pathetic.

If you want to bring up examples, how about:

    Clinton Woods - RJJ
    Abdualev - Cotto
    Arturo Gatti - Baldomir

Just a few guys who were out-gunned but at least showed that they had the guts to try.

Hell let's just look at a week ago.

Tsurkan, Bunema and Ramirez ALL put on a better effort than Peter did and they didn't have anything close to what Sam had on the line.

sHOULD THAT COUNT?Tam is being cunty. Peter was overrated by most of you in terms of power. I always said he punched only slightly above average.Nearly all of us said he was a shitface. Wlad is a fuckface for nearly getting kayoed by that scrub, yet it is debateable that Vitali is better:nono::nono:

Peter should have quit because he may have been beaten up really badly.

It would appear from his words that Tam thinks that the Klitschkos should somehow be above contempt. That is all I will say in this thread about the subject, because thats all that is appropriate to say at this point.

Anyhow I do not think Tam is referring to me, as anyone with any sense would hardly refer to the dribble that I produce as writing.

Mex have a heart!! You want Peter to be Lacied? :nono:

I agree, that's probably it to be honest. Vitali had a higher profile and higher expectations when he quit, nobody gives a shit about fat peter.

This post isn't directed towards anyone in particular, but directed towards the same old tired sentiment,......
Fighters have an absolute right to pull the plug if they fear for thier health,.. it's a fucking sport,.. and I sure wish Leavander Johnson was "allowed" to quit in his particular fight with Chavez, ............but oh no, no no no no no, he did the "honourable" thing by taking his pointless beating like a man,........ then we had a whole bunch of morons weeping, "what a tragedy waaaah, what a horrible, horrible tragedy" ... knowing full well they would have been jumping up and down screaming like savage monkeys filled with hatred had he quit to save his own life,...

I thought he was totally RIGHT not to come out for the 9th. What was the point? To me he'd quit 5 months earlier anyway when he decided he wasn't gonna train to have the foot speed and stamina he needed to hang with Vitaly. When he decided he was just gonna go through the motions in the gym and carry on eating burgers and pop instead of training like a heavyweight champion.

So bottom line - I'd say nobody gave Peter shit for quitting because it's what you expect from a guy who shows up 30lb overweight with a 42" waist. When it's so obviously apparent that a fighter didn't try in training then you're hardly shocked when he doesn't try in the ring because he's already demonstrated he has a losers/quitters mentality. The really sad thing to me is that fans don't give heavyweights more shit for showing up fat anymore.....it's basically what's expected from them now.

    Agreed. He was spot on.

There is no disgrace in quitting, whether it is Ali, Frazier, Duran, Morales, Freitas, Peter or any other of these shameful cowards.

As fans we are allowed to see a fight, not a massacre. A fight ends when we have a clear winner, not when one guy is out cold. A quitting fighter is basically admitting that he lost that night to a better man. To me, that is not much of a shame

I'd favor Holyfield over Peter, especially the Saturday version of Peter.

It's obvious to me that those talking mad sh*t on Peter are the ones who were hoping to see Vitali get KTFO. Alot of Klit haters on here trying to mask how they really feel. It's all coming out though. You can sense it in their hate spilled posts as they completely disrespect Peter as both an athlete and a human being. So how much money did you guys lose on this fight?
