Holyfield isn't 6'7, 250lbs either with a high punch output. Vitali would've put Holyfield away within 2 rounds.

It usually refers to size, which is both weight and height. Height plays a very big part on how good a fighter is, if they know how to utilize it.

    Yeah thats so true.

As an aside I dont think Peter is a quitter. He got up from mutliple KD's against Mcline and he came back from far on the scorecards to win the fight.

But Saturday he made no effort to get inside Vitali, I think his effort was dissapointing no doubt. He could have done more, starting with moving his head. Add that to the fact he is so much shorter it was pretty much target practice for Vitali.

Disagree. Extreme height has proven to be more disadvantage, than advantage in boxing.

Hearns, Saddler, Corrales, Pavlik, Caballero, Lewis, Vitali, Wlad, etc etc

I struggle to think of fighter's struggling because of their above average height because of their weight class, generally if they struggle it's because they are not very good, not because of their height.

Those are the few examples. You'll need to do alot better than that. Not only that, alot of those "tall" fighters come complete with shitty chin. You can add Bob Foster to that.

Corrales wasn't good because of his height, anyway. He always struggled within that body.

He didn't fight tall at all no, but I do think that his freakish power, without loading up, and without needing much leverage was something to do with his height, and frame.

Although it is true what you say, the tall fighters often do have shit chins, I guess the lack of bulk in the legs and neck don't help matters.

Generally though, I don't see fighter's struggling because they're tall. Can you cite some examples of this? Obviously not tall bums, good fighters that weren't as good as they could have been, because of their height.

I could give you more examples of tall fighters being shit, than the other way around man. It's not close.

You trying to tell me you can't remember a few hundred random scrubs fighting on ESPN, Telefutra, Telemundo, Canal, Setanta, SKy...blah blah blah. Just brought on to get beat up? Tall guys who fight good, are rare. Rarer than the short alternative.

Corrales was not very good and his height wasn't to his advantage because he fought like he was 5 foot 1.

But Tam, your point come across in a way that you were suggesting these same fighters WOULD have been better, if not for their height. Can you cite examples of this?

Can you cite short guys who would be better if taller?
Of course not because we don't know.
But if you start naming greats, there are a lot more average sized guys than tall ones, and probably as many short as tall (or at least enough examples to show height is a minimal factor).

No, but that's not the argument. Nobody is saying short fighters suck.
