I'm glad dude got banned. He is a freakin racist idiot that does not need to be posting his racial issues on our board plain and simple. I mean how many times can an idiot be banned for the same shit. Everything is black/white. To be honest he needs help with his racial issues. The guy has been banned numerous times. At some point, either he has to be gone permanently or the bans have to be longer since he clearly goes back to doing the same ol' shit. :dunno:

Ortho has had more chances than just about the remained of the forum COMBINED. Three months is too long? Give me a break. He's lucky it wasn't permanent. Next time, it will be.

 

Problem is, brother MWS, that OC's been tolerated, warned, coddled and "mini-suspended" COUNTLESS times.

Eventually, you have to make it stick.

Seriously, he really pissed me off with his racist rants about a year ago. I complained then and nothing happened. When he began his crap on the Ottke thread, I just ignored it. Truthfully, 3 months ISN'T ENOUGH. He'll be back, and spewing that garbage in no time flat - it's not like he doesn't know what he's doing. And I really don't care how good a poster he is (which is VERY debateable, seeing as how his bias gets in the way of good sense), if you really want these forums to improve, you get rid of garbage like that.

People who know me know that I hate that sort of nonsense. I hold no truck with it. And as soon as I read those posts, I knew OC was heading for a ban. And deservedly so.

BUT I know OC outside of the boards. In fact, I know a LOT of OC's outside of the boards. I live in a shitty, deprived, Gateshead council estate where EVERY mother fucker is a racist. Every time I go to the pub for a beer, I'm chastising people for their bigotry. People who know me know this. In fact, I'm noted for this. My defending OC has NOTHING to do with me tolerating bigotry. I'm NEVER going to do that.

I just know guys like him. He doesn't REALLY believe that shit. He says it for a reaction. He says it because it's controversial. He says it because he knows no better.

That's not me defending him, per se. That's me KNOWING what is being said and why. Like most here, I took it with a pinch of salt, and said my piece in private. I'd be happy to PM my criticisms to him to you if you are unsure of my integrity on this one.

The bottom line is that I like Ortho. I do. He's a knowledgeable guy who says some fucking stupid, fucked up things sometimes. Those things are wrong, and I don't doubt that. But it doesn't make him a bad person automatically IMO.

I am entitled to my opinion, Craig. I have spent near twenty years dealing with people like Ortho, and I know they aren't all bad apples as may initially appear. That's why I have more time than most for them, even if I am very critical of the shit they come out with.
