It was broadly entertaining throughout, I felt, if you could see past the fact that both guys had glaring shortcomings.

Irish has saved me the bother of posting. He's made the exact points I'd have made.

    Yes Sir!!!

Slice has misunderstood...................I don't care about 80's vs 90's etc..........and I am all for good, high-profile and entertaining bouts in the HW division.

But something has to be said about the overall quality of the fighters.

Parker has had two major back to back opportunities and has done very little in either.

Whyte was basically falling down for about 5 rounds and being commended by Bellew for his outstanding bravery.

I mean, yes, brave, yes tough but come on.

Froch made the few good points..........from about the 5th round on Parker had a disinterested look about him. He didn't want to be there and that's disappointing.

Whyte looked like he was having shots of Jagermeister in between rounds.

Whyte is crap. He's game, he has decent pop but he has no skills and his stamina is shocking. He's crap. Parker is also crap. He beat some bums well but came to lose a decision to Joshua and then did the samewith Whyte. Takam is crap. He got laid the fuck out by an ancient Chisora, who was crap when he was in his prime and he got iced by a cruiserweight.

Joshua is the best of this lot. But he couldn't stop the guy Chisora iced and he looked less impressive against Parker than Whyte did, even though he stopped Whyte.

None of these are very good. Because they are all of a similarly poor standard, they at least all matchup well and make for entertaining fights.

The skill level is really lacking, no doubt.

Tyson Fury is in fact the best pugilistic practitioner of this current crop, despite looking clumsy and unathletic.

The rest of these boys really have major flaws.

Wilder has proper technique on absolutely nothing as is nothing more than a high school basketball player who gets by on power and size.

AJ has nice technique on his punches but is stiff as hell and has questionable stamina, though he appears to have recuperative powers.

Ortiz has legit craft but is old and has questionable conditioning.

Whyte has some power and throws nice looking shots but his movement is dire and his stamina is pitiful.

Parker has some hand speed and a jab, but no power and little variety if any on offense.

The rest aren’t worth speaking on. That said, we’ve seen some entertaining scraps. But it seems affleticism is replacing true skill and that’s just wack.

Either way, I'd like to see it. I believe Ortiz when he says he punched himself out. I don't think he'd make that mistake again, in which case he'd surely have a chance at winning a decision if not winning by stoppage.

Talk of Fury negotiating with Wilder for a December showdown but I think it's all bullshit and they won't actually fight. Fury is in no shape to take that fight so soon after such a long layoff.

Just because these contenders are shit doesn’t necessarily mean Joshua is shit or average. He’s clearly pretty good. It’s not like Parker, Whyte, or Takam were competitive. It’s like saying Crawford is average because Postol, Indongo and Horn were so mediocre.

Yeah might be too soon for Fury to take that fight.

That said, if he can come in the same form he did against Wlad, he schools the Windmill Wilder.

Wilder would lay him out, not buying this Fury as master boxer narrative, all based on him pecking his way to a decision over a statuesque Klitschko who was showing clear signs of shotness.

No. Mostly based on his fight with Wilder. Before he hirt him, Ortiz was outboxing Wilder easily. Then he damn near stopped him, but in the process, became totally gassed. At that point, he became very vulnerable. Granted, Wilder knocked Ortiz down early. So regardless of Ortiz's claim he punched himself out, Wilder could certainly win by knockout again. I don't know.

The way I see it is that Fury would school him as Long as the fight lasts but given that wilder carries his power late you’ve got to figure that he’ll land Tsar Bomba at some point and when he does Fury won’t take it well and Wilder is a good finisher

If Fury is seriously talking about a Wilder fight in the near future it probably means he’s looking like shit in the gym and ready to cash out.

Or he's just talking up a possible Wilder fight to keep people mentioning his name because right now he's not really too relevant. I guarantee the fight doesn't happen this year.

His current handlers (Warren?) probably realise that he is not stable enough to have a long run and to be a lucrative reliable earner..best make the most of him while he's still taking his meds and is motivated to stay in condition...wouldnt be surprised if they thrown him in with wilder sooner than later, the joshua payday will still be there afterwards regardless
